Persona 5 creator Katsura Hashino: “I wanted to build a game like a picaresque novel. So I needed a place that showed that the character didn’t have anywhere to go and where the character confronts the adult generation.” “For the place where the character should live, I found it nice to have a large highway that looked like it covered all the the city, and for the character to end up in the small streets at the brink of destruction.” “There, he would find shelter at an old man’s place, I thought that it would be a good place to start the story.” From Katsura Hashino's Archipel interview.

One interesting thing you may have missed in Shibuya crossing in front of Hachiko statue is the missing Green Bus (although you did say that many things changed). The Green Bus that was originally there was moved about 2 years ago to Akita prefecture (Hachiko's hometown) and was replaced by that new tourist helpdesk. I'd love to see you do more "real life" locations, there's so many P5R locations that fans of the game would probably love to see too. I miss tokyo so much, my trip there in march was so wonderful, of all the cities i toured in my 2 week trip, tokyo was by far the most daunting and honestly massive. osaka was the most like america, kyoto was the most unique place ive ever been, but tokyo...it felt so strange, if im being honest it was the most busy place ive ever been and also felt so lonely, granted i was travelling alone but it was so strange. it was by no means a bad experience, i would absolutely love to live here if it were possible for me, and seeing all of the locations that i had only seen in videogames felt surreal. next time i go im absolutely bringing friends, the sense of loneliness definitely left some sort of aftertaste looking back. i dont regret it at all though, this was by far the best experience of my life and has given me so much meaning to my existence. that all being said, this is an absolutely wonderful video that is well edited to showcase all of the iconic locations of tokyo without giving the sense of being lost which absolutely happened to me when i visited. sushi and mcdonalds have not been the same since ill say that much.

I started playing Persona 5 Royale 1-2 weeks ago and I really never had any ambitions to travel, but after a couple hours into the game, I seriously want to visit Japan. The scenery of the game is completely different than the sub-urban area I live in, and the restaurants (like the ramen shop I've visited very early in the game with Ryuji) have a unique feel to them. I definitely need to experience an authentic ramen shop in Japan in the future. Great vid!
