Welcome to the States! A sidenote on air travel - when we fly from California to Edinburgh we always go SFO- Newark NJ - Edinburgh in order to break the flight time into two fairly equal segments. Plan on it when you come to row in the bay area ;)

Yeah that’s a fair point. Suppose it’s a trade off with extending the travel time significantly

It was surreal to have you coaching at my home club Cam, even though I was only got to be there for one day. Hope you had a great time at the rodeo as well 😁

Awesome seeing you row in my hometown! What’s even cooler is I also went to Kent and played hockey there. Now I’m rowing at Uni!! Anyhow, Enjoy the southern hospitality and good luck with training.

Some good talking points in this video. I love the door scenario. I think sometimes if you get too caught up on one door closing, you can miss a door that opens in front of you, hence best to keep reflection short and sharp and put away the baggage. It’s awesome to see, that this opportunity arose for you and you took it! Enjoy the adventure!

I also liked the talk about how you noticed the social energy was different in this new environment, In New Zealand I get the same feeling for different parts of the country and it has ultimately lead me to move away from my origins to parts where the atmosphere has a more positive social energy.

100% can get caught up in what ifs. Super grateful to be able to take the opportunities when they arise. I like that, social energy. Makes a huge difference in everything that a person does!

A classic case of someone’s loss is someone’s gain! As for the people’s attitudes, a little positivity goes a long way - something we could learn from here in the UK. Was a bit jealous as last weekend we trained at Lake Vyrnwy in Wales which is definitely a little wilder than Austin not in Australia but variation is definitely a great motivator. Enjoy your 2024 world tour of scenic swimming pools - the Aussies are currently in the lead! 😎

Good chat about people from the US. If you didn't know people in the UK are voted to have the 48th out of 50 countries to have the worst mental health. So you noticing the fact that things are different from the UK is definitely a positive impact. Listening to you talk about that with waterfall sounds in the back is also really nice, should maybe make a podcast one day?

It has been the same US vs UK for years, back since I can remember my first visit decades ago. Maybe a bigger difference now though. It was quite the stark contrast! I did do some chatting on the videos back during the first or second season of the vlogs pre podcast popularity. Maybe time to bring it back!

Cool that you are doing this down in the Woodlands. I was in the Woodlands area last summer for a job and was able to row at that club with Richard, Tom, Charles and lots of other people there so interesting to see you in the same place that I rowed!

Sorry for the broad question. I meant with the British rivers and the US big lakes which do you prefer? A lake that is straight no turns. Or a river with more turns and more effort put in to turning? Or is there no difference. @@CameronBuchan
