Great video Shy, I wish I knew these things when I started growing succulents. Everything you said is on point! I’m in US Georgia zone 8 and it took me a while (and lots of patience) to create the soil that works for my plants. Thank you for sharing!🧡 can’t wait for your next video!

Great presentation! Especially the 'you will lose plants, and it's okay' part! I'll be checking out more of your content for tips. Oh, and yes, I used lady bugs in my yard in San Diego, CA and kept a habitat for them to stick around. They worked like a charm keeping epiphyllum and euphorbia pest free,

I love this video and you're right it depends on so many factors as to how someone grows their plants. My potting mix has changed from straight succulent potting mix to good quality regular potting mix x 6,(any large bark chunks are removed), mineraland gritty mix x 2 and perlite x 2, I add some slow release fetilizer. If the and if the plants are very small, say grown from leaf props I add in a little coconut choir so they get a little more moisture while sizing up. I also realised that if you want your plants to grow versus colour up/be chunky then the mix changes. The grow soft versus hard thing. I was using pumice for a while but find it can stay a little too wet if I use too much because I dont use a lot of terracotta pots and they allow more air circulation and are drier.

Great info and tips! You made me lol about the Filipino ladies, since I'm one of them! 😂 Your garden has made me want to get more cacti, since I was kinda afraid of them. We'll see how brave I get! 😊

Awesome video our Shy! I'm an indoor succulent and cacti grower. Absolutely need my grow lights and fan, even in a southern exposure. For any indoor echeveria growers...after losing many over the years, I only bottom water. Success Atlant. And only green ones cause unless you're doing high lights for 12 hours daily colored ones aren't going to thrive. 🌵

I have used beneficial bugs and they have definitely worked! 👍I’ve tried lady bugs. I would try green lace and ing but my spouse is too creeped out by them in my sun room 😝

@@the.morning.chorus yea, I’ve never used anything besides diatomaceous earth, neem and peppermint oils and ladybugs. I’ve been blessed enough to keep most pests away or at least to a very minimum.

I used beneficial bugs once. I saw no improvement. Perhaps my bad bug problem was not as bad as I thought. They came highly recommended but I don’t think I’d go down that road again. I just wash them off, use DE, or alcohol for mealies.

Ugh that’s a shame it didn’t work for you, but good to know that alcohol and DE were enough 👍🏽

I usually got to Enfield Produce in Enfield petandgarden.com.au/ The last bag of pumice I got (grade 1-7) was from a supplier named Mark Martirez. @mark_martirez on instagram
