I can safely say that AoT is one of the pieces of Art that definitely changed my life, and I can confidently say that no other art piece will ever have an impact on me like it had. I still struggle to find a piece of Art where the Main Character himself could be considered to BE the World-building itself, or to have everything based around him without it feeling forced, pointless, or boring. Isayama literally makes you trust him from the very first episode, at the expense of you, the viewer, paying good attention to the story and the details, with an open-mind(which is something the people who blindly hate on this show because it's "cool", don't do). The writing also made me change the way I see every movie, animes and shows for good and for bad haha. It incouraged me to give shows that didn't grab me from the first 3 episodes another chance. I got into the show about a year and couple months ago and I'm still in love with it, I still find new stuff to appreciate about it. I even convinced my mom to watch it with me and she's enjoying it. The thing that a lot of people miss in Gaby's stay in Paradis is the look in the eyes of the main cast when talking to her. It's not a look of discomfort of "oh she hates us" it is a look of solemn understanding. There are some life experiences that are so universally relatable, but ONLY if you've gone through it. The one I'm most familiar with is losing a parent. People wo've never had that happen will immediately jump to "I'm so sorry for your loss!" While people that have been through the same will just change to that same look. They know exactly what goes through you and how to approach you. There is no awkward condolances, no attempts at relating to the mourning persons level. There is nothing they can say to fix it and they know: the person has to go through that process themselves. You can help them when they stumble but they have to get through and grasp with those feelings themselves. Same with the cycle of violence and hatred. Every character of the 104th knows how that boiling rage feels and they feel such a deep sense of understanding that you can see it in their eyes. They are not uncomfortable around her, they are too comfortable. That slight elation from knowing someone who understands immediately drowned out by the intense wish that this person didn't have to go through what brought them to this point. The 104th knows what it takes for a person to be that stuck in hatred and violence and they know they can do nothing but show her that they are not what she thinks they are. They are not devils, but there is no amount of words they can use to convey that, so they don't even bother. I have not seen that solemn look of understanding anywhere else in anime but here. It's bloody brilliant!

I have watched all the key sequences and episodes in sub. I love the sub. Just with my ADHD I find it a lot easier to watch dub. Even though I have enjoyed shows in sub. @@DareToEntertain Oh wow I just wrote a comment about how I disagree or rather experience/perceive one of your points differently and was thinking it could be due to me having ADHD lol. Goes to show how ADHD can have different expressions for some things. I wouldn't say my attention or memory associate more or less when I consume visual vs audio information. But I do get more distracted by sounds rather than by visual clutter for example. Especially speach. I also am very into linguistics, language as a phenomenon in general, and foreign languages. That probably makes it so that I feel more stimulated with the sub but in a good way. I feel more engaged. Definitely the type of ADHD that mostly craves more stimulation than non-ADHDers and more rarely needs less. I rarely feel overstimulated, it's so much more frequent for me to feel understimulated. So basically I pay better attentiton to the story of an anime if my attentuon gets grabbed by noticing things about the Japanese language (and by extention indirectly about the culture too) at the same time I'm supposed to pay attention to the plot. Sounds very counterintuitive, but it's also for the same reason why I have to have a podcast during the most mundain daily tasks (tidying the kitchen), music with words during tasks that need more of my attention (cooking, showering), music without words for task that need even more (sorting out a drawer, reading a book for uni), and no music but pure silence for stuff I really gotta concentrate on (study sessions where I actually tackle the material). I hope this was an interesting read, ADHD is hella my topic now bcs I just recently discovered I have it and I'm 27 lol. I'll officially get my diagnosis in just 2 days. The way it has put my whole life into perspective is even more insane than how AOT kept putting everything in perspective with each discovery lol.

It doesn't sound childish at all. We as humans like to think of ourselves as rational beings but we aren't. What keeps people going, through the darkest hours of their lives, the hardest moments, isn't logic or reason. It's the narratives of our lives that we believe in. And those narratives are stories. Stories are what have captivated us since we crawled out of our caves and people have lived and died and loved and lost at the behest of the stories they believe in. Though I'm not a believer myself, arguably one of the greatest stories ever told is the bible, and anyone who knows anything about history knows just how much the bible has inspired believers to ever greater feats in its name, either good or evil. Because religon offers us a overarching narrative which we can simply put our trust in and not worry about. Or even on the everyday level, where how you go about your life is dependent on what you believe the story of your life should be. You get x grades in school because the person you want to be, or the person you think you are would get x grades. You go to x university because that's the university that offers the character of you the path forward to get to where you think it should be. And then you get subsequent x job, marry x partner, have x children. All because of the story you believe in. And on a personal note, I get what you're saying completely. I never read the manga but I just finished the finale to the anime that came out only a few days ago. Stories as profound as attack on titan make you seriously think about the world, about the nature of humanity, the nature of good and evil or if such words like good and evil even matter. When you grapple with questions as serious as those, it changes you. Just the process of the grappling can change you, or sometimes you may even come to an answer that you believe in. Another story. And when you settle on answers to questions that go as hard as these, it really does change you inside forever. And you never see the world the same again. Two of the stories that have affected me the most in being exposed to these questions is AOT ofc, and also the Game of Thrones novels; A Song of Ice and Fire. Idk if you've ever read those, but reading them gives me close to the same feeling that AOT does. The feeling of not knowing what's right, of being presented with excruciating choices, of seeing both the best and worst of humanity on full display, and everything in between, but not always on the side you'd want it to be. I'm a lifelong reader, which makes it kind of ironic that I've only seen the anime and haven't read so much as a page of the manga. But seeing this masterpiece of a story play out has changed my life as well.

I got married to my lovely wife who watched this show and shared the love Recently i was finally able to apply for new citizenship and got offered to change my name, i choose Eren and can’t wait to get my id holding this name And even though i read the manga 2 years ago and cried like a little boy by myself i still had my eyes tearing when i watched it with my wife Life has been weird since 2020 guys as i am laying down in the bed thinking about how I don’t feel any huge trumas living for +100 in my 27 I came across this ost I got flooded by memories and tears wanted to share above I also haven’t felt safer in my life than being in that balcony watching aot while tanks are 1km away Cheers

This was, in general, a great video. However, the part that stood out to me was at the end, when you talk about anime as a whole. It's rare I find someone who shares my stance on fan service and anime tropes, and how they can ruin entire shows just by being there. Attack on Titan, much like it did to you, raised my standards for media as a whole. A strong recommendation I have is JoJo's Bizzare Adventure. It's a show that is so unique, so outside the shitty and cringy tropes of shounen that it's hard to believe it is one. Definitely worth a watch simply for the insane amount of creativity and artistic value it oozes out of every pore.

If you're into stories and world building similar to AOT, I would highly recommend watching the 90's adaptation of Berserk, as well as reading the manga. Very gritty and compelling story. That may seem unrelated to your part 4 at first cause we're talking about Attack on Titan but, there is a particular line pronounced by a character named Zeke in the still way too underrated game Xenoblade Chronicles 2 towards the end that stays stuck in my mind since then. Zeke says: "Why does anyone kill others? Because they're in your way, or because you can't bear the sight of 'em. You kill because you're weak." I actually thought about this reflection myself a few years before. It is so much harder to resist our impulse and refuse to kill to keep on searching for compromise and a way to get out of it to move on with courage and live with that. Violent people are the weakest of all. As Armin himself says in a flashback of his young kid life, others hit him because they know he's right and don't have anything left over than violence to fight back. Because they already know inside moving on and living with that is the only way. You can at least stop the violence completely and let it go. The only other viable option or true answer that will prevent any pain and trauma only a few seem to succeed to apply is thinking about all of your actions in advance to see where it could go, what consequences it could have. To preciously cherish everything you have right now and make everything in your power to keep it safe. That imposes a radical change of perspective and you'll never be able to be carefree ever again, but keep in mind that when it's too late it's too late and maybe you'll reconsider your life's view and will be more mindful. Is living life to the fullest really worth all this pain inflicted on you and others? *Advice for next manga:* It's kinda sad in a way you started mangas/animes by watching what can arguably be considered the best manga of all time. I'm not sure you'll ever be able to find something that could top that. But maybe you don't have to. Knowing that you directly come from Comics, watching or reading My Hero Academia next seems to be the perfect choice to me. You may find a little comic vibe in it that will be funny, but it mainly stays a manga about super heroes which is a very original concept. And this is mainly about what it means to have the shoulders to protect people as a vocation and a job. It really does a great job at making us think deeply about those heroes of the real world like doctors, firefighters and so on. Of course, there is very cool super powers, good action and great animation. There is also this archetype of the leader which is actually a central point of the manga and how can others succeed to shine and protect the population when this leader isn't there. Also the initiation to become someone who can save others in practice, giving everything for your dreams and never giving up on it. I'm pretty sure it would be the perfect manga for you. No fillers obviously. The anime is great and totally worth watching even though there is apparently a bit of cut content that was problematic for manga readers (especially for season 5, definitely the weakest). It's less mature than Attack on Titan but Attack on Titan is already very mature for a manga. It still talks about important topics and it treats it very seriously so no worries. It's not finished yet but its end is near apparently.

@Zexceeda
10 ай бұрын
Meh "the best" will always be subjective. AoT isn't even in my top 10 for "favorite shows" and idk if it's in the top 5 or MAYBE 10 for "best written" and this is coming from someone who mainly just watches anime/reads manga. Imo Fullmetal Alchemist, Code Geass, Evangelion, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Gurren Lagann were all anime that I both like more and felt were better than AoT imo. Not all series are written in the same way though. As far as anime that have a plot written to be mysterious and convoluted, Attack on Titan might be both my favorite and the best I've seen, but you can write different kinds of stories in different ways, and "good" in one might be "bad" in another. Attack on Titan's writing was made more appealing and exciting with how many twists and curveball they threw at you, in other shows, that wouldn't just be out of place, it would disregard the entire narrative of the series. Gurren Lagann, for instance thrived on the simplistic notion of "Doing the impossible" and "Piercing the Heavens" there was some compelling plot along the way, but it pretty much was a show that had a theme than ran counter to bleak and distressing stories and worlds like AoT. That said, 3 of the anime I mentioned (CG, Eva, and GL) have a way of each delving into similar themes and each seek to have their own answers to the question of individuality and the potential loss of it. That being a thing I've always found pretty profound, and I've NEVER been that fond of shows that are depressing asf (Evangelion wasn't in my top 5 till they released movies that basically rewrote the series. I literally got depressed and physically sick the first time I watched the original anime xD) But, tl;dr, calling something "the best", bar none, disregards the merit in different kinds of series, I think

It was interesting seeing the perspective of someone who's not into anime, showcasing their thoughts on this story in such elaborate ways, showing just how truly captivating aot is and how unexpectedly it draws all kinds of people from everywhere in. There's nothing quite like this piece of media and I don't think there will be anytime soon, so I can very much empathize with the "Where do I go now" and how do I get into storytelling I used to love when this set the bar above and beyond. Well, I've watched quite a number of things and while the thing I'm attached to the most is something as flawed as Naruto, there is another Anime that is extremely unique and more grounded in realism rather than the usual "typical anime" style, that I can recommend, which is also my favorite one next to Attack on Titan. Monster (2004) adapted from Naoki Urasawa's Manga. It is one of the greatest stories I have ever had the privilege of watching, just like aot. Of course, it's an entirely different setting but similar in unmatched build up, amazing pay offs, incredibly engaging mystery, satisfying character arcs and just through and through great storytelling. You don't really get filler and while some parts are slower, there's not a single boring or meaningless second of its runtime. It's so different from every anime I've seen, so much more authentic. That's why I compare it to Attack on Titan and cherish it as much. Whatever you end up deciding to watch going forward, (you've probably been beaten over the head for this already so I'm sorry but) If you haven't already, I do really recommend rewatching aot in original japanese with subtitles. The dub is pretty good, no question, though the experience of hearing the original actors pouring their all into their performance, some of the greatest I have ever seen, is so worth witnessing and may give you a new perspective on an already compelling story and its characters. It can feel unfamiliar at first but it really pays off, if you decide to revisit sometime. As for now, I hope you can find enjoyment in something new after experiencing something as mind-blowing as aot and as I said, my suggestion is Monster, I'm sure it's not a let down :)

I enjoyed your video a lot! This is definitely one of the best animations ever made. If ecchi or fanservice and deeper topics is your thing, there are other shows I like very much that I'd like to recommend: Vinland Saga, Fullmetal Alchemist (I personally prefer Brotherhood, which follows the story of the manga), and Berserk. But on the "fanservice" topic, I don't agree. And I have a lot to say on the topic. This being only a super summarized version of what I have to say. This is more of an outsider perspective. Being from South America, I feel the perception in the West (the English speaking countries, parts of Europe), is kind of strange... I can tell the general feeling over here in SA is just seeing them as drawings, not as representations of the real world, but "representations of themselves". Fictional characters exist in a different ontological category than the real world. Also, the characters are beautiful and pretty, and their personalities are unique (tsundere, yandere aren't loved at all IRL, but they are in fiction) and very archetypical. So it's normal to feel affection and (a very strong) attraction towards them. But it's a very complex thing to explain. And it depends. Each aspect of fiction has to be understood under its own context. For example, a work of fiction can tell a story based on long lost cultures or civilization. At the same time, that same story can contain taboo elements that today's public wouldn't find acceptable in the real world. As long as the readers or consumers are adults, they should have the capacity to disern both, and know how to give each aspect its own importance. Without these notions, it would be impossible for us, to like ecchi, for example. The difference is that we take it for granted, while you guys see it in a completely different way. Violence and sex are both taboo. But the reasons why people look for them in fiction are very different to the why there are people who do so in the real world (Mostly, if not always, this is because of a lack of empathy). That's why we ask that a deeper analysis is necessary before coming to a conclussion. We Otaku always stress the following: "fiction and reality are different things". This isn't just to defend what we enjoy, it's also a manner to say, "we're not bad people, we just like this for these reasons". But it's us drawing the line: For us it's drawn where it naturally is drawn. Because drawings are not real people. Not blurring lines between the fictional and the real is what you may call "The Ethics of Moe" ("The Ethics of Affect", by Patrick Galbraith). For example, the attraction towards the My Hero Academia (or similar) character is related to our "happy memories of school life", when we were like 12-17 or so, when life was simpler, without so much monotony or reavy responsibilities. I think people in my country also share that kind of experience. But maybe in the US for example, there are bad memories about that time, with bullying and all that... So it may be difficult to relate (but this is only my assumption, I may be wrong on the reasons why). And it applies to girls too! Female Otaku with a wide range of tastes considered wrong are a thing. There are fanservicey (or even 18 +) figures of the male characters from Attack of Titan made in Japan, and they're "drooled over". I can understand why, and I don't feel uncomfortable because of it, because I feel the same way as them, because we love the characters so much! There are many things that people like, that are considered "immoral" by society. Even if they are, we know they are too. But you could say: we like to accept that as human beings, we have to be conscious of our flaws, and act correctly based on that awareness. In the end, I understand your point of view, though. I understand why things can make you uncomfortable. So I think using labels and hashtags to "zone things" is important. But other times it's your responsibility to not choose to see or block away those things. I think understanding each other and being civil about it is how adults should behave. So, I only disagree with "it shouldn't be a thing". It's part of what makes me happy, and I'm very thankful to life that "it's a thing": Anyway, take care, thanks for the video, and have a great day!

First of all I’d like to say how impressed I am at how thorough, thought out, and meticulous you were in creating this video. You really did your homework and is was a wise decision to take your time on this one so you could carefully and accurately articulate your thoughts and opinions which you did beautifully so a big round of applause for you! Secondly, if you appreciate very complex characters and meaningful discussions on on deep topics like ethics, morals, and philosophy, I’d suggest Death Note to be the next anime you check out. It’s well written with brilliantly crafted characters and high stakes. It’s among my top 5 so highly recommend it! Personally I only got into anime at the start of covid and since then have gradually made my way through the many genres within the anime umbrella. I can appreciate where the negative reputation anime has comes from. It’s a genre of entertainment that is in no way perfect. But I think that because it’s such a massive space you can really find a lot of great content that will appeal to you. Also, just a side note - I might be a bit biased on this but I’d like to address your concerns about My Hero Academia. I totally agree with you that depicting a young girl like that is not appropriate and I totally understand why that would be a turnoff if that is some of your first exposure to the show. But as far as I know, that is exclusively the manga. The anime, while it does have a few “perverted“ characters and it does have some fan service, never personally gave me the sense that it’s trying to greatly sexualize a character. I say this, not only because it is one of my favorite anime shows (for good reasons), but because I believe it has a great story with a cast of incredible characters that you fall in love with much like you do with the cast in AOT. There are epic fights and amazing story and character arcs. Also, there are excellent themes throughout the story that leaves me feeling inspired, motivated, and this sense of wholesomeness that make me sitting down to watch a 23min episode not feel like a total waste of time, unlike many other shows that fail to deliver the same “after taste.” Again, I clearly am a big fan of the show, but I truly believe that you might become a fan yourself if you just give it a try. All in all, this was a great video that earned my respect and convinced me to click subscribe 😉 Great job and keep up the good work 👍 Looking forward to watching you on your anime journey!

My god. Thank you. This is one of the best comments I’ve ever received on a video. Not only have you watched the video (77minutes is a long time) you’ve been able to take specific things I’ve said and respond to them. Some that weren’t even a call to action, thank you. This video was a massive undertaking and making sure I depict a true version or a caricature of myself when I had just finished it. Since finishing the script and I began editing my first venture out was death note as you mentioned, my god. Death note was fucking amazing. It’s last 3rd is a little weak but still so so good. Masterful story and is the great depiction of cat and mouse I have ever seen. Period. With my hero… I hope my video made clear that I come from a place of ignorance and a harsh criticism like the ones I was giving was coming a place of I don’t know X but this seems bad, and icky. I have certainly not ruled out my hero. But it may be down the list on shows I make my way too. Again thank you. I hope to grow as a creator to expand not only the topics of videos I make. But also formatting. This larger, deeper video essay was my driving force for going to work in the morning for 6 months. Thanks for watching and subscribing. 😊

@@DareToEntertain Of course, it was my pleasure! I genuinely enjoyed watching it:) I was wondering, would you ever consider doing an analysis video on death note? As far as I’m aware you haven’t yet and if you choose not to for whatever reason that totally fine and cool I was just wondering:) Also, as far as my hero academia goes, no worries. I get that things that dapple in questionable or controversial areas care sensitive and appreciate and admire your sensitivity towards such content. I don't know how one can hate Attack on Titan. It's just perfect. I've even read the manga and everything that it foreshadows from the very first episode comes true at the end. Maybe hating Attack on Titan is something Isayama wanted, sounds strange but Attack on Titan shows how people have different opinions, different ideologies, different point of views and that is the reason human conflict exists in our world. Human conflict is the reason behind fights, riots and wars in our world. There were many people who tried to spread peace in our world but still, we fight, we battle, we kill eachother and Attack on Titan parallels to our world perfectly that people get divided into two groups, you can call them leftists and rightists, liberals and conservatives or Alliance and Jaegerists. They can never agree with each other. These both groups are right and wrong at the same time at their place. Twitter arguments, subreddit fights, KZitem comment wars and actual fights between people (moral and physical) and wars between two nations are inevitable. The statement I started this comment with is also my point of view, my opinion, my take, my side and I'm indirectly starting a conflict, a war here. My recommendation: Your next anime should be, no, MUST BE... MONSTER by Naoki Urasawa.

A great video that really captured the feeling of watching something so grand that it feels like nothing can live up to it! One thing I'd like to add is that saying Erwin "rejected" the serum might be a bit of a mischaracterization of the complicated dynamics of Erwin's personal goals and true nature. It's unclear if he would've even rejected the serum if he were lucid enough to make a decision. Erwin was a leader with a personal goal to know about the outside and that is what made him so perfect for the role. Isayama sensei said that Erwin fooled himself as an adult by convincing himself he was fighting for humanity's future, when it was actually far more personal. However, when he was pushed to the edge, his true nature showed and he chose to die with the new recruits. That scene where he "rejects" the serum is him raising his hand in class as a young boy and he asks the teacher, "how do we know there are no humans outside the walls?" Despite the choice he made, even in that moment that was his burning question. Hajime Isayama once explained the literary appeal of a character dying while still chasing their dreams. in a quote talking about Erwin's death, Hajime Isayama said "During that moment, I illustrated the panels while thinking, 'Everyone is a slave to something.' Perhaps Erwin was enslaved by his 'dream.' And as long as he lives, he cannot find freedom from it - only in death is there liberation. For Erwin, Levi abandoning his rescue is also using death to release Erwin from his shackles." Again thank you for the great video :)

Even though this is 7 months later (so idk if you'll even see this), I'd recommend you check out the anime "91 Days". It's a short 12 or 13 episode show I've seen twice, because there are a lot of characters and the pacing is very fast. It's set in Prohibition Era America, and I think you would enjoy a lot of the character archetypes in the show based on what you said in this video. See funny that you send that because when I first finished the season I would often go to youtube and listen to the sub scenes just to rewatch it but to get a different perspective on what I had seen. I know most prefer sub. And to anime watchers, it was cringe to hear it. But this video more than anything is a retelling of my journey. In a year or 5 years this video will date as my experience watching the show for the first time. And I needed to show that it was in dub. Right now I go between sub or dub. For example I am watching chainsaw man dub, but Vinland saga in sub. I really do think Aot is lucky to have both amazing eng and Jp voice actors. For me a scene that gives me goose bumps is the Eren scene in episode what 21 where I show him transforming. That is nuts in sub. But even more so is Mikasa's yell in episode 6 season 2. When she screams for eren to get back. Oh the sound design and Mikasa's voice hits the spot. Hope that showcases that i am not speaking out my ass. I will I promise watch the show in full sub before my next magnum opus video on this show. When part 3 comes out I swear I am gonna be ready. Its going ot be insane that video.

I want to remember Attack on Titan, because every time I revisit it I notice something new or develop a new perspective. AOT and the German series Dark are two of my favorite tv shows ever. Furthermore, both shows share certain themes and plot devices that make the storytelling unique, intriguing and so fulfilling after watching it (To those who watched these shows you know what i mean).

Most people don’t know the ending was changed early on. There was an interview asking the frat or how it’s supposed to end. The original ending everyone was supposed to die early on, but he changed it due to how popular it quickly became. I don’t know exactly when he decided to change the ending, but at one point, he started winging it.

That must have been before the show was made, considering the very first episode is titled "to you, 2000 years in the future" which has a direct connection to the final arc

My biggest qualm with AoT is it over-dramatizes how pants-shittingly scared virtually everyone is of dying, even in battles not involving (facing) titans. People are pretty damn capable of putting aside that fear in a military context, especially when they’ve been in that danger a few times already. It’s heroism on one hand, but it’s the ability to operate in conflicts so far beyond one person in scope that allows humanity to fight wars in the first place.

I don't know if you watched it all in dub, but if you did you should definitely re-watch it in sub, Eren's and Erwin's Japanese voice actors killed it.

I dont necessarily disagree but all due respect the show is animated way too well to have to waste visual attention reading all the dialogue

I'm so tired of seeing comments about Eren being "evil" as a young kid or turned "villian" during his teen years. Erin was PROTECTING a young girl (Mikasa) from being abducted/trafficked. He found the courage at such a young age to go up against adult men in his eyes, as "monsters" in clothing. Had he not taking action, there wouldn't have been a Mikasa in AOT. How many children in the past till now are abducted, trafficked, physically abused/trafficked, tortured, or dead cause no one was there to help save them? Then to be bullied or beat up constantly as a kid for standing up for himself, his truths, his beliefs, or for others. Then to witness his mother's death & felt the pain of helplessness. He was driven by his truths, by his pain, by the loss of his mother, the anger of so much death around him, etc. Erin was a kid with heavy burdens. Commenters continue to speak on the 80% of human he took during the rumble. What happened to the innocent lives (babies/children) that the titans killed, Reiner killed, Bertoldt killed, Annie enjoyed killed, Zeke killed? The Marleyians intentions were to annihilate the Eldians & the manipulated other Eldians & countries to jump on board in doing it. The people on Paradis was living their lives & the enemies came to them. I don't blame Eren, Erwin, or Floch for standing up & fighting for the cause/safety of their Island/country. We tend to forget, Eren & company knew nothing that layed outside the walls or beyond the waters. Therefore, when he went to Marley, he probably believed that was the only group of people. He nor the rest had no clue what layed beyond the borders of Marley. We are so quick to judge & criticize someones action not having a clue of what we would do if ever placed in a position like his. Eren was dealt an unfortunate hand & he played it how he thought was best at the expense of sacrifices. Eren was human & he felt all the emotions of the decisions he made or had to make. In order to succeed or make brutal/harsh decisions, you have to become emotionless in order to press foward. Levi did it. Erwin did it. It's wasn't easy but it was their decision to push forward. How can you talk peace to people who hate you & have intentions of causing you death? Causing genocide to your own people. Eren was very human & his human instincts was to protect his friends, family, & country & annihilate the enemy. Instead, his friends/comrades sided with the enemies who brutally killed their loved ones. Same enemies who destroyed their homes & innocent lives. But yet, Eren is in the wrong & hated on. Eren wasted his life for what? A delayment to what happened eventually. Destruction to Paradis. The entire show Mikasa protected & loved Eren & the moment he asked her that one question, she couldn't even be honest. Children carrying the burdens of war will definitely change them from being the happy go lucky kids they once were. At the end of the day, Eren was still just a kid.

I wanna be able to watch for when the new season drops. Sadly I wont get to dragon ball until im ready to handle that style of anime. Its a bit too much for me. I love attack on titan for the sheer amount of suspense, action, beauty, joy, sadness, and confusion it leaves you when a character ends out to become a huge villain or even when they are simply riding horses through the grassy plains or birds eye shots of entire cities. Even the epic battles that play out are absolutely stunning to watch because you wonder who is gonna come out on top all the time. Or maybe I've just fell in love with this show a bit too much and appreciate every last spec of it, it brings tears of sadness, and joy to my eyes.

I was in a similar situation; i always used to look down on anime as i’d considered it full of fan service and kind of weird. But i randomly gave attack on titan a go when it was on netflix two years ago and i’m so glad i did. For me personally I’ve yet to find anything i enjoy more but some animes have come close: i’d recommend deathnote, monster, fullmetal alchemist (and brotherhood) and vinland saga.

One of the things I love about attack on titan is how they handled the military police they were seen as the most powerful regiment where only the really skilled soldiers go to but in reality they were just corrupt the officers would just go on lunch breaks, and in terms of strength between regiments they were nothing compared to the garrison and the scouts and it because painfully obvious during the fight with Annie where the M.Ps really had no clue on how to handle the threat being presented and would get bitched by the scouts almost every time for a regiment where supposedly only the most skilled soldiers where allowed they really get outsmarted
