This song was adapted from the original French song “Que Reste-t-il de Nos Amours?” (“What Remains of Our Love?”) which was composed by Leo Chauliac and Charles Trenet, with lyrics by Charles Trenet, and which was released in 1943. The song was used in Francois Truffaut’s 1968 film “Baisers Voles” (“Stolen Kisses”).
The English version with lyrics by Albert A. Beach was first introduced in 1957 by Keely Smith and the title “I Wish You Love” was used. Since then, numerous recordings have been made.
Lyrics:-
I wish you bluebirds in the spring
To give your heart a song to sing
And then a kiss
But more than this
I wish you love
And in July a lemonade
To cool you in some leafy glade
I wish you health
And more than wealth
I wish you love
My breaking heart and I agree
That you and I could never be
So with my best, my very best
I set you free
I wish you shelter from the storm
A cozy fire to keep you warm
But most of all
When snowflakes fall
I wish you love
[music]
My breaking heart and I agree
That you and I could never be
So with my best, my very best
I set you free
I wish you shelter from the storm
A cozy fire to keep you warm
But most of all
When snowflakes fall
I wish you love
When snowflakes fall
I wish you love
When snowflakes fall
I wish you love
When snowflakes fall
I wish you love….
