Congratulations Austin. So basically you now have a famous 1 of 1 Ibanez Ice Man, if ever there was a guitar to hold onto this would be it. Should you sell You'll not likely be able to purchase this instrument back like your Spotlight Specials........ I bought a case that in a round about way looked to be suggested for a guitar I'm purchasing. I got the case in but the guitar is on back order. The more I looked at it the more I just knew it wasn't going to fit even a Stratocaster . Went through the motions of seeing if any guitars I have would fit . I stopped and was going to send it back but I tried my Iron Label in it . That guitar fit in it like a glove. The case I had the Ibanez in came with it when I bought it used. So I put a stratocaster I have in it and it fit that case better. The case I have the Ibanez in is a SKB-FS-6. I have bought SKB cases before and they weren't much. This case could rival a gator case. Well padded and safety latches with one keyed .

Ibanez is my bag so I'll share some information with you. The tailpiece is called a quickchange, Ibanez design, very nice, the version on the RBF is the cloud version used on Artists. The knobs are called Suregrip, those are the kind used from 83-86 or so. The abalone inlays are like those found in high end guitars like rocket rolls and destroyers in the late 70s/ early 80s. Gibraltar bridge, of the harmonica style as you say. The pickup configuration would have been Maxon Super58's or Super70's more likely, high end copies of Gibson PAF style humbuckers. If I saw this in a 1979 catalog I would be entirely taken in. Beautiful thing, well done you.

Got a 1978 Ibanez Musician thru neck with active circuitry for my 18th birthday back in 1982 and it was my main and only real guitar for recording and gigging up until a few years ago. I still have it today, battered and still kicking ass all these years later but it's now semi-retired as am I :) This beast has been smashed into amp cabs, thrown at singers down flights of stairs at venues and I never realised just how much it was worth (or would have been worth) in pristine condition as they are pretty rare these days. Has the same bridge and tailpiece as Trogly's lottery win but I switched out the bridge pup for a Seymour Duncan Invader in the mid 80s and the neck pup has since died (but I never used it anyway). All I can say is Ibanez used to make one helluva guitar back in the classic days. Always wanted an Iceman so am well jealous - enjoy your winnings Lord Trogly 👍👍👍

I mean, Austin seems pretty honest about stuff, usually going as far as saying details most KZitemrs would rather keep their mouths shut. Sure, it goes to one of the largest online retailers in the US yet it's a KZitemr who happens to be first in line, moreover considering we well know Austin has a good relationship with Sweetwater. They might've said he was first when in reality they might've skipped a couple of calls, after all one of the other models was also sent to a regular costumer, buuut yeah... Given the issues on this one, I'd say they didn't make a really good job in terms of getting good publicity, if that was the case!

@@rodrossi9749 I wouldn't pay that much and I doubt anyone else will, but I don't think that's the point of the ad. The root beer was in most of the 50th anniversary press coverage photos, it was plenty of people's favourite, so it's also going to be plenty of collectors favourite too. It's a fishing advert to publicise to collectors that he won that draw, and it's potentially for sale at crazy offers. It's only worth what someone is willing to pay - but Joe Bona' or Paul Stanley etc *might* pay that for a one-off high-profile anniversary. Traders gonna trade. The srp was way beyond mortal players budgets, it was always going to feed the speculative bubble of collectors. Trogly did win this lottery, but maybe not the one he intended in the headline.

I just made a rosewood topped guitar (my first carved top guitar) with a korina back and it's not much different than lighter mahogany in density, but it's really soft.

One of my favorite guitars is my Ibanez PS120. Only downside is how easily the mirror pickguard scratches from the pick and fingernails. It's the only classic LP style guitar I need. Cheers!

Lucky to have played a Iceman that Paul Stanley purchased (then donated to charity) in Adelaide Australia on the 2022 KISS tour. Legand ✌️🤘 Ibanez make the best guitars ☠️🏴🇦🇺🇯🇵

About Gotoh's plating, if you get the 510 series tuners you'll get the premium finish on them. I installed these 381s on my Ibanez AR420 and the 510s on my FRM300.

Nice guitar! I agree with you about the fretboard inlays, for that price and level of craftsmanship the abalone choices should have been much better matching. Also, it doesnt have the inlays sized to the each fret, it just has batch-sized inlays like a cheap mass produced guitar.

The late Dave Bunker used to ghost build guitars for Ibanez. RIP Dave. I own a Bunker 78 ProStar, (the first headless guitar.) Don’t forget the reverse Iceman, the Fireman. (Paul Gilbert).

That Iceman is just beautiful -- I want it so badly Seeing this Iceman brought back childhood memories when I began playing. An older friend of mine that I remember since I was 3 years old, we would borrow each others guitars and low and behold he had a white Iceman that I fell in love with.🎸👍

As someone who has seen KISS in concert, The Dynasty tour 1979-80, your guitar sounds much better than Paul Stanley’s guitar at that time.

Trogly I hate to piss on your parade; but I have doubts that is actually a full 1/2" slab of maple on the body's top. I seem to think they put a standard thickness top, then routed a channel on the edges like they would for binding and then install maple veneer. If you notice, the grain pattern of the maple is different on the sides than it is on the top. That would also explain the reasonable weight. The shielding in the cavities makes it impossible to really see the true thickness which was very likely a deliberate move to throw people off. The customers probably see the shielding paint and think that Ibanez was paying attention to detail but in reality they're trying to cover up the crime scene. Considering the costs of these guitars, Ibanez should really come clean about this but I doubt they will. The only way to really find out without causing too much damage is to remove some of the shielding paint in the pickup cavity (maybe with a chemical instead of sanding) in order to reveal some of the wood grain.
