***** Sure he will, his pr is 45.00. Arman Hall went 44.8 at 19. He's slower than EVERYBODY on our relay team. He can battle Christian Taylor, whose pr is 45.1...but he's jus a world champion triple jumper.

+ranhill He ran the fastest split of that race, so there wasn't really anything more he could do. His teammates let him down, just like Felix's teammates let her down.
@randallhill6423

I'm of the opinion splits mean nothing. Depending on where you get the baton in the passing zone, your split time could be faster or slower. As for Javons strategy, had he been patient and tucked in behind Merritt until the last curve, instead of trying to flat out sprint for 300 meters, he may have actually won the race. That was just a dumb strategy to begin with. He may be able to get away with that in the semis, but both times in the finals he has come up short, and you can't totally blame the other leg runners either. I'd ask him, do you wanna be a donkey all your career? Or a thoroughbred?
@EliteAthletics
8 жыл бұрын
randall hill That doesn't mean the splits "mean nothing", particularly when it's a 4x400m (where the handovers make up such a minor part of the run). Plus, how can you be so sure he would have won with a different strategy? The strategy he chose led to him running the fastest split of his life, and a faster split than anyone else, so clearly it worked best for him. The fault _does_ lie with the other runners - the 2nd leg, to be precise, who inexplicably ran a whole second slower than he did in the heats. Had he replicated his heat split, Jamaica would have finished in a faster time than the US' winning time (that's not to say they would have won because Merrit would have responded may potentially have ran faster). It simply doesn't make to try and pin Jamaica's 4th place finish on the best performer in the entire race.
@randallhill6423

We'll just have to disagree on the importance of split times. The strategy did not serve him well. He ran the fastest "split", had the lead and STILL lost. Why? because he had nothing left in the last 50 meters, because he expended most of his energy with that stunt he pulled, and THAT can't be blamed on the second runner. 400s are usually broken up into sections. Allyson Felix accelerates for the first 150 to 200 meters, coasts down the back straight to midway through the curve, then kicks it back in the last 150. This assures you have something left for the finish. Relays are a lil different in that you want to catch up with the leaders, which Javon did. But then he kept right on going. It looked good, but in the end it was unwise and foolish.

To Jeff, I can see that you are not a track fan just patriotic. America is no longer the dominant country in track and field. They are trying really hard to stay at the top. The one person who is consistent in their field of event us Alison Felix. Lashawn Merit did not get gold make a not of that. America did not received 10 gold in tracks. Jamaica took a few of those gold medal from you in fine style too.

Luckily, bolt did not anchor for Jamaica: I'm not sure why Jamaica don't put him on anchor. They could win races like this because bolt could easily run a 42.5 or better. Michael Johnson was clocked in at 42.9 and I know bolt could do that or better. Jamaica put him on anchor of the 4x400.
@mh0Ang95
10 жыл бұрын
Usain's fastest 400m was 45.2... Sure now he's definitely more mature and faster, but the guy hasn't properly trained for the 4 in years. Plus he lacks the motivation for it and has even admitted it, that he doesn't have a passion for it...
@cleteroy
10 жыл бұрын
Understand something about, he ran 30.97 in the 300 meter and was just striding the last 100 meters or so. If he runs a 400 meter all out no one in the world could beat him. He just has too much stride for any runner to keep up in the long sprints. He could be the first to hold the world record in the 100, 200, and 400.
@cleteroy
10 жыл бұрын
Passion has to do with him beating America. I guarantee you if he anchors their 4x400 against America down 10 or 15 meters he would lay it on the line to win and there is no one who can match his speed and stride length.

The 400 is a whole different monster! Bolt is great in the short sprints, but the 400 is quite different.
@NikeTrackField12
10 жыл бұрын
cleteroy i agree, bolt has way too much turnover and he is way too tall to lose in anything at or below 400 meters. Jamaica could win gold in the 4x1 and 4x4 if bolt was on anchor.
