I wonder has anyone done any work on Westmeath people in the American Civil war? Maybe I should do it myself. (Patrick Hussey is my name). I had a great grand Uncle who fought in the American Civil war. Christopher Hussey was his name. He arrived into New York in 1851, ended up going to Virginia in 1853 to work on the railways and in 1861 he became a private in the ‘Virginia Hibernians’ which became company B of the 27th Virginia Infantry (in the Stonewall brigade). He fought until 1863 when he died of heart disease near Winchester. His brother Patrick back in Westmeath was my great grandfather.
