I saw Bellson live at the 1995 Portsmouth, NH Jazz festival ...he was almost 72'... I shook his hand and his hand was like the shape of holding a drumstick... Then he played some, he was solid and right on but, I felt like oh man, he has gotten old... Like we all do eventually... ...of course... Then he did an extended solo, he was warmed up at that point... He was as good as ever that night... I got a couple signatures, and we spoke for a few minutes about Buddy, Gene, himself, other drummers, etc ... A true gentleman and one of the greats from a bygone era .... RIP Louie RIP

Nope, as great as he is he has nothing on the likes of Buddie Rich, Louie Bellson. Drummers like Paice drew from these guys.

First time I see that, I had the chance to see 3 of these drummers live or in clinic, they are all amazing, but God help us, the music in the background suck. I still remember when that king of music came on in the early to mid 80s, it didn't age well, it sucked then and it suck now. Sorry, these drummers deserved something better. I don't say these musicians sucked, not at all, but even great musicians can be called to play cheesy music sometimes.

As a guitar and drum teacher I'd rather listen to this than that g3 wank. Conversely I'd rather listen to Friday night in San fran by paco de lucia Al dimeola and John mclaghlan or allan holdsworth than g3.

I watched every episode on TV back then and recorded it on video. I found it highly embarrassing that the bungler Pete York so naturally joined the ranks of the best drummers in the world, just because he produced the show. Embarrassing, really!

I'd like to mute the other instruments and just hear Paicey. The rest of it sounds like the worst of the 80's and gives me visions of big-haired suburbanites in pink leg warmers.

I come for the drum solos BUT the musical directors often these fairy like poser keyboard players are WAY too loud and sorry but they just can't rock. They must write these crappy tunes for the drummers and band to play for being included being in the show LOL!
