I wish all fittings could end with a “take it to the course option”. Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could “rent” a club or shaft and give it some actual range or playing time for say a week before making a final decision?

Line ball for the TR! One thing about the test though Ian, would you factor in the fact that after hitting several shots with different shafts, you're already "tuned in" when you're hitting the TR? Would it be any different if you were to start with the TR cold, and end with the 1K?

I "upgraded" from non-Velocore Ventus Blue 5R to Velocore Ventus Blue 5R and was shocked the Velocore version felt more whippy and produced many more wet-noodle hooks. The stock shaft does OK but a bit of left and right mixed. SS in mid 90's. I'm now wondering if Velocore Ventus Blue TR 5R vs 5S (6R or S?) or Red TR 5S..

So, to what do we attribute that swing path change ?? It seemed to be repeatable. The swing path with the Ventus TR narrowed down to around ~1.5 inside-out from a range of -3.1 to -4.8 vs with the other shafts. That's a significant decrease. This path change had noticeable effects on centering the strikes on the clubface, as well as the ensuing start line being almost down the center. Great job guys. Can't wait to see how these perform outdoors.

Curious to see if jumping back to the Accra the path would have stayed the same or matched the 2° in to out of the last two. Did the last two shafts influence path and strike that much, or was it the swing and setup?

I have tried all of those shafts (in the proper flex for me, of course), and although I played the GD Tour AD XC in an S/R flex for a while, once I got a Ventus Blue TR 5R and tipped it 1/2”, all the other shafts got relegated to my backup bag! I struggle with “lefts” with the driver, but since I switched to the TR, I have hit very few drives to the left in about 7 rounds of golf, and all but a couple of those were very playable. I have also won the season-ending tournament on my winter golf tour and shot a couple of near career-best rounds since putting the TR in my TSI1 driver. For me, the Ventus Blue TR can’t be beat.

Long time listener, first time caller. Great vid, a few weeks too late as I went XC in 7 weight b/c 78g is so good in my 3wd. Also.....from Merriam-Webster... How Do You Pronounce foliage? The English language has its share of common but disputed usages. One such example is the pronunciation of foliage as FOH-lij or, even more irksome to some, FOY-lij. The first of these two pronunciations, though frequently disparaged, is consistent with the pronunciation of the -iage ending in marriage and carriage, as well the less common but widely accepted pronunciation of verbiage as VER-bij. The second of these is often more fiercely denounced, in part because of its association with the nonstandard spelling foilage. Oddly enough, foliage traces back to Middle French foille ("leaf"), which is also the source of the English word foil (as in "aluminum foil"). When adopted by Middle English speakers, foil originally meant "leaf."

Interesting choice w/Ventus TR over the Speeder NX. I have not personally hit the TR, I however did nearly game the Ventus Black last year when I ordered my ST220G. I too preferred the Tensei Orange among the MCA offerings, I demoed the 1K White and Diamana TB but the Ventus Black was just so consistent and stable. I however at last minute had opportunity to try the Speeder NX 60X. The NX just felt less wooden, offering great feel and was easier to control both shape and trajectory. Again, have not swung the new TR but imo the Speeder NX was Fujikura’s best, most versatile driver shaft. I will also add the TPT shaft had very consistent and workable results but like Ventus Black it lacked the feel of the Speeder NX. Don’t recall if you’ve reviewed it since introduced last Fall but might be worth a try. I put it in my 3-wood as well 👍

Ian, with regards to the shaft’s weight, let’s consider a moderate swing speed (slightly above 90mph) would be better off with a 55grms shaft than with a 65grms? Or not necessarily so?
@Fufiloofa
2 жыл бұрын
I'm not Ian, but consider that +90mph could be a LPGA player, a strong heavyset older man or a "lanky" junior, would you expect them all to play the same shaft weight? Shaft weight is a individual preference that depends on the feel of the player, some need more weight even at "slower" speeds, and some gain from lighter shafts. Club head speed isn't really connected to a certain weight or flex

Not even close. Ventus TR. I'd like you to take this further and call upon a couple of fades in between. Few courses in the world have all driving holes with a dogleg left. At 280 carry, i'd take a shaft that you can control the shot every time. Think fade and you hit a fade. Think draw and you hit a draw. When you get that feeling, there is no doubt.
