Cool Aron! Sounds like a great deal. I love mine. You might want to take it to a shot to get set up better, or do some of the mods in my other video about this guitar. Here's that video: kzitem.info/news/bejne/woaXmn18opale2k

I'm with you on the intonation. They should have a saddle for each string. The one I bought has none of the other problems though. The setup is fabulous, I wouldn't change a thing. Got mine in transparent cherry with a Gator hard case and an extra set of strings for $460.00. Currently my favorite guitar.

+Phil M Cool! If you follof the annotation link in the video, you can see the mods get done and hear the result. There's also a link to that saddle in the description. Do an open D chord an octave up. If it doesn't sound right, you may need a compensated nut. man that makes all the difference if your ears can hear small intonation imperfections.

Yes, I think I'm keeping my as7312, in spite of the intonation. I have a good guitar luthier friend who can either file the nut that's on it to spec, or put a new bone nut and cut the string slots from scratch, which would allow him to space out the strings a little more. I'm also getting the 12 saddle bridge linked in the description. If we'll end up with a great playing guitar, it's worth a couple hundred more to get it right, Then I'll probably get new tuners. I do like playing this guitar!

I played this guitar and it plays like a dream. If your worried about 12 strings holding you down, you would be wrong. It plays like a 6 string. And yes, you can bend strings just like a 6 string.The pups are wrong of course for a 12 string. As far as a 12 string sound goes, probably geared more towards a YES sound than a Byrds. will be trying one out tomorrow and let you all know if I bought. And what I thought. Thanks Chad, no one else did a review on this guitar, so much appreciated.

Chad Johnson I bought it. Got a good deal. No problems with the action at the nut. Actually wish the nut was a little higher. The neck width from low to high string is on the thinner side. 12 strings at the nut takes a little getting used to. The neck had a bow which was adjusted. Now it buzzes a bit but the action is super low. So needs a set up. All in all, getting a good 12 string sound out of it. The octave strings could ring out a little more. That might due to the low action. Good range of tone available. There is some craftsmanship put into this guitar. Got a good prog or even jazz sound. Played a dean boca 12 also which was surprising ok but it's built like a model boat they used to make in the scouts. not much crafstmanship. Overall, pleased. Now my arsenal is almost complete! Thanks again for posting your review.

I love my desk layout! So much rool to work. I don't know of any other Hollow body Electric 12 strings in this price range, but for 700.00 there is thee solid body Ibanez Artist Series AR3212 that looks interesting. No telling how much better the hardware would be, or the bridge since I haven't seen one up close.

Chad I just picked up my AS7312 Vintage Burst yesterday and so far I love it for the most part it is truly a beautiful guitar and my fingers are sore as hell right now as I've been playing it all day, but with that said I do notice the same issue with the G strings going sharp. I will try to intonate it and see what happens but I suspect the nut probably needs filing but I'll hold off on that for now. 30 day return policy could mean a new amp in the near future.

Amazing for a 'cheap' $499 guitar! I must agree, that the bridge pickup is better at holding the more bass notes than the twangy 'neck' pickup (true on every elec guitar I've ever played), and at 3:28, you prove it and select an ideal combination. I like that sound, we all want the twangy high string sound of a 12 string, that's why we buy them, but they all need to keep the bass string alive and kicking as you do well kicking in the bridge pickup a bit more! Now... what happens if I re-string this guitar with the bass strings first, Then the small strings second, as Rickenbacker does? Can i do that on an Ibanez? As for the high nut causing stings to go out of tune when pressed down (longer distance to the nut), i can live with that by simply grinding down the nut a wee bit. I think I can sweet-talk Denny Zager (Jr, if I have to) in Lincoln, Nebraska to clean up this guitar for me if I buy one! Denny (remember 'in the year 2525?) can fine work a guitar with the strings about as close to the frets as you could ever want just short of rattle. But so far, he only works on his own brand of guitars. BTW, i was in the columbia studios in 1966 when McGuinn and the Byrds did 8 miles high. (Studio musician for Terry Melcher 1966-1970) Hated it! He can play a 12 string, and did on just about all their records, but.... bad song! Creepy for my band. Check the Flameouts on youtube. Standard 60's rock n roll. No hippies in my band!

Seems pretty cheap. These weren't for sale in Europe. BTW, I just bought a Gretsch G5422G-12, and it had the same issues as you describe. Nut wasn't cut properly, and 12 slots on 6 saddles. I had a luthier give it a proper setup, which included fret dress, nut filing, as well as filing the saddle slots individually. I tried two of them, the first was really bad, and in addition, there was something wrong with the high G string. I broke 3 of them before sending it back for the second.

How's the balance when standing? I used to have an Ibanez Artist 12 string electric and if you took your hands of the neck (when standing) the head would quickly sink in the direction of the floor. Was a nice guitar otherwise.

Chad love the vids this one especially. Im looking for a 12 and trying to research all that i can. I used to own an Ovation 12 string acoustic that i hated. It was a gift from someone who knew that i wanted an acoustic 12 but knew nothing about guitars. Have you played a Dean Colt Semi Hollow flame top 12? Ive seen a few vids on them and i must say that i like them for their versatility. Thanks for your vids.

I don't come across a lot of 12 strings. I'm fairly happy with mine after having it worked on and adding the Earvana nut. My friend has a Rickenbacker 12 string, and its got such a small neck that I can't play it cleanly. This ibanez has room for man hands to play comfortably.

enjoyed the video, is there a 12 string for maybe a little more money that wouldn't need any work done to it ? I love the 12 string sound, I only play a little bit of guitar, but I might want to buy a 12 string to play around with a little bit, also, i just finished making a design for my new desk I want to build for my computer and home studio, and it is very similar to your desk

Does this guitar exhibit neck dive i.e. is it neck heavy? So many electric 12 strings that I've tried are neck heavy.
@ChadWork1

It's not terribly heavy, and no neck dive, but it does want to fall forward like it's top heavy. The strap would probably be better attaching on the top horn.
