Fun fact, because most people don't know this: The bathroom/toilets on old ships were at the head of the boat (the front where the pointy part sticks out), and only the captain would have a private toilet in his quarters, though passenger rooms might have a chamber pot. That's why bathrooms are sometimes called a head, literally because of where they were placed on ships. The reason they were placed there is because the water would flush out the waste when a wave hit, so you wouldn't have to clean it yourself.

@@andrewpotts No that is a corruption of a french term that became the naming convention of it. The french called that deck 'la poupe' which just referred to the stern deck roof. So over time it just became corrupted by english speakers, much as english is a corruption of french and german to begin with, la poupe just became the poop and hence the poop deck.

Hmm didn't know that I thought all manure is able to fertilize the ground without it having to age, is it when manure turns white?
@WASDLeftClick
Ай бұрын
@TWay-xn9dm I’m no expert but as I understand it, raw manure shouldn’t be used to fertilize a garden or especially a farm because such manure is full of all sorts of bacteria and viruses from the digestive tracts of animals. These microbes can transfer disease to the plants, or more importantly any person who eats fruits or vegetables contaminated with fresh manure. To prevent this, manure should be composted with of without plant detritus so that the decomposition process heats the pile enough to kill off the worst of the bacteria and viruses. This can take a few weeks or months depending on a lot of factors. “Undercooke” manure is how you get E. coli and listeria outbreaks.

they're pretty good for sure, especially if you're looking for a more natural home game experience. here's also some other suggestions if you're looking for more live play to consume: critical role is great for a more serious but occasionally funny campaign dimension 20 can't be recommended enough. they're a comedy focused dnd series from people that worked in collegehumor with 2 free campaigns on youtube, and lots more with their subscription service, dropout. brennan lee mulligan is an absolutely brilliant dm; without making this comment too large i could type an entire essay about him. if you're looking for an audio only experience you can check out Not Another D&D Podcast (NADDPOD) for a similar experience also with collegehumor employees, can't recommend them enough. also lastly there's a newer d&d podcast called Worlds Beyond Number that absolutely takes the audio medium and flips it on its head, it is an incredible experience. i recommend headphones for that one, the detail in the background is mind bogglingly amazing, 4 episodes in their new campaign and i can't recommend it enough hope you enjoy avantris! ❤

Just finished Season 1 of Once Upon A Witchlight (Ep1-56) and decided to try Icebound next and GOD this was an excellent decision. I also discovered you guys through Shoocharu's hysterical animations a number of months ago, and you guys are just so incredibly fun and clever and play off each other so well. It's even more of a delight to be trying another campaign and seeing that this isn't restricted to Nikkie's wonderful DMing. I haven't come across a group with so many DMs in it before, and seeing the different styles and how everyone approaches it adds so much to this. Your production value is fantastic and it's clear how much work you put into this, but you guys also still feel like real people, actual friends just having a blast playing together. You make it feel accessible, embrace mistakes and hiccups rather than try to polish things to some unrealistic/unsustainable level, and you are so open and ready to share advice and recommendations for new dms and streamers. Thank you for all the hard work that goes into this - especially the more difficult and less visible aspects that go uncelebrated, like managing so many social media platforms, the VOD editing and logistics of patron-exclusive content, managing the livestream itself, all the DM prep that happens between session, maintaining the physical space and recording equipment, maintaining such a large and active discord server, etc. Genuinely such a delight. 💕 I'm soundly hooked!

The references in the beginning were to an unstreamed session zero that we played. This is the first campaign for all these characters!

Been wanting to do a more sea or coastal travel focused campaign for ages as a thing to revist with my group and this is giving me quite a few ideas in that vein and I'm so pumped to catch up on this

Wow. I am absolutely hooked. I never actually watched 5 Hours of DnD actively. Usually it just runs in the Background when I work but the tension in this one kept me transfixed. Can't wait to see this campaign to the end.

Glad i know that pirates were afraid of bananas, red heads, and women otherwise id think that Barnabos was completely cracked

The dynamics of this group.... just absolutely PHENOMENAL. I love the way you all interact with one another, and the amount of effort and commitment poured into your characters! Absolutely amazing, excited--if a little trepidatious---to see what Derek has in store for the rest of the campaign! Well done, all of you. :D

Oh, I'm really glad they fixed the mic early on in the session. I initially stopped watching because of that, but I'm really interested in a survival DND story!

I’m watching you guys so I can dip my toes into how D&D works, I’m new to it but I’d love to start playing and this is so entertaining and easily understandable! Thank you for this video!
