Avoid Icedrive if you plan on doing a lot of file sharing because they scan your files looking for certain markers, and they will disable the share option without any warning if THEY think that the file you are sharing violates their terms of service. So much for privacy huh? I've never had this problem with pCloud and their customer service is top notich. Icedrive is about as restrictive and draconian as living in the UK nowadays. I don't see them sticking around for long unless they take a different approach to the service they are providing.

My paid online data storage needs involve what is essentially long term storage. I upload once, and it sits there until some catastrophe preventing me from using my local copies. I just migrated from Amazon Drive to Icedrive's 1TB lifetime, as I was getting annoyed with having a yearly fee for something that just sat there. The price was very reasonable and attainable. I do my own encryption, though, using 7zip's AES, and splitting each archive into 1 gig segments (using 7zip's splitting feature). What I'm curious to know is if Icedrive will let you upgrade its storage down the road, without losing the original lifetime subscription's money spent in the process. Perhaps I might be interested in adding the 5TB plan at some later date, or maybe I just want to add a second 1TB plan instead. Obviously, I could just create a second account, but that just seems silly to me, just for incremental upgrades in storage.

I disagree. Because the 2TB space in which Pcloud stores your data cost them a certain amount today. Ten years from now it will cost Pcloud a whole lot less money to store the same amount. Ten years ago people had 32 GB hardrives on their desktop instead of 1000 GB. And video and photo resolution takes more pixels now. So people will need more storage as time goes by. Old customers will keep buying more chunks. This will never end until people no longer have a need to store digital data.

@@sodade21 , I don't think there are some limitations. I use a little more than 2TB of my 4TB plan (2x2tb). It works well especially if you have small hdd in your computer. My Mac has only 256gb hdd so it works excellent for having a document folder which I can use without thinking about space. I does work good for a backup option. The speed is not fast as I expected. It has some flaws. Because of the speed, it doesn't work like a regular drive and you cannot open and view everything as fast as your internal drive. I give it 7/10.
