I'm quite sure that the experiences and conclusions of the wonderful rescue teams cannot be aired in their raw form! Unfortunately the title of "Tik-Tok Idiot" is viewed by many as a compliment and not a warning. "Build Your Brand" is more important than any thing else to so may fools. No one should endanger themselves or others in attempts to rescue such foolhardy daredevils.

You provided so good info on the situation out there. We call that kind of honest, factual, and not-so-pretty delivery of info a: “wake-up call”. In other words, people need to wake up and realize they are creating serious problems, that they need to be more respectful and less selfish. I appreciate the real look into what the tourism is doing to your country’s resources. Good luck to all of you. ❤

Great news that the super zoom has arrived 👍. You have never really enough equipment, but you can come close. The current eruption seems more dangerous because the lava can flow underground in many directions. A wall collaps now and then doesn't help. Gylfi, the 360 optical protectors are not enough for what you want to do. There is a 360 waterproof case that looks like a little bubble helmet that goes over the entire camera. It is the same concept as a hard case for action cameras. Also, I got the extended 14" to 118" 360 pole. It has a thread at the bottom so you can screw a carabiner to a ring to help pull it back up or use a wrist strap so you don't accidentally lose your pole. Hope that helps!

Hello Gylfi. It would be interesting to make some of those 'overlay' (?) still-shots, where you can drag the vertical line in the middle from left to right and back again. Great drone footage, @4:30 in the top left you can see the 2021 cone then behind it down and out of site would be the 2022 eruption, finally if you continue the line you have the 2023 eruption in front of Litli-Hrútur. Just looking through line of site from the 2021 to the 2023 the line takes you to the bottom east side of Keilir where your drone picked up the hotspot. Just one long underground passage ?

I planned to use a steel wire and since I plan to show the video uncut in 360 format I need 360 lights and one of the ideas was to have 3 lamps above and below the camera, 6 way, 360 light source overlapping the cam and protecting it, however, I will always need a lens protection, I'm still picking the extras for the cam :) will get the long stick, but not for this :)

Your first responders SAR are volunteers... it's so selfish of the tourist to do these dumb things @ volcanoes and magma. They are putting SAR lives at risk. You do a terrific job @ reporting, drone footage and the science of Icelandic volcanoes.

With your 3000mm lens you may need a heavy stable tripod. An ordinary tripod might not work very well due to wind vibration.

Yes this is a problem on my windy island :) the built in video stabilisation is actually quite good and if I frame the video with something solid in the frame, I can most likely get rid of the rest in Premiere Pro. But I have a "medium heavy" tripod and this will always be tricky...

Perhaps you could talk about the possibility of a large eruption merging into minor eruptions :O

the traffic issue at the parking spots could be partially solved via a bus/shuttle line to and from grindavik, connecting to the wider bus network. Traveling there without a car is possible but tedious

Yes there should be bus rides to the volcano, less injuries and problems

@@JustIcelandic just extend the 88 line :P It stops under a highway cross section so why not at a makeshift parking lot

A couple days ago I was looking looking at the 3D earthquake view and it looked like some unrest under Keilir. I'm not surprised to hear something may be happening.

Still strange unrest between Keilir and all the way to Lake Kleifarvatn...this is not over, perhaps not a new eruption, but it's something more cooking there...

I must say I am disappointed by the 6 o'clock limitation for the volcano hike. While I do understand the reason behind, the rule should be like "after 6 o'clock you are on your own, no rescue team available", not close it entirely. I will be in Iceland on August 8th, bought the ticket mainly to photograph the eruption. Is there absolutely no way to catch a sunset or sunrise nearby the volcano?
