Thanks for this interesting update. Askja, Torfajokull and the Rekjanes Peninsula especially showing interesting signs of life. I'll need a few months to learn how to pronounce the second volcano in this list. And the Rekjanes Peninsula is definately showing the most ominous signs. Interesting to have informed observers keeping us up to date!! 👍👍

Thanks for the update - looks very close to the Blue Lagoon and road to the airport!

Yeah, if the eruption were to occur at the uplift center it would put two roads at risk and the blue lagoon, hopefully if an eruption occurs it'll be located in a similar are to previous ones🤞

I had a good giggle at the "assists" part 😂 obviously the magma chambers are connected. Or perhaps they arent connected, but the tectonic pressure effects both chambers equally.

nice update 👍 any other uplift maps for bardabunga or katla anywhere?
@Hliarmenn
Жыл бұрын
Yes there are! Here's a link to Bárðarbunga's charts, en.vedur.is/volcanoes/about-volcanoes/bardarbunga/ There has been uplift there ever since the last eruption ended back in 2015 and our experts are always keeping an eye on the system. There hasn't been any uplift over at Katla although earthquake activity this year has been elevated. Here's Katla's charts,en.vedur.is/volcanoes/katla/

at 3:59, isn't the uplift actually less than 40mm in a couple months, because the key is 'millimeters per year'?
@Hliarmenn
Жыл бұрын
It's definitely miss leading, I had to read the report a several times just to be sure but in the report they state the measurements are taken over a 2 month period from June to August. Maybe they just made it like that as they don't expect to preform any more measurements this year, so 40 mm was "measured" this year 😂

I'm hoping for an eruption near Fagradalsfjall soon.
