Icewind Dale 2 Original Soundtrack. #17 - Return to Kuldahar Composed by Inon Zur, extended by Lensinand Picture/image : alantsuei.deviantart.com/art/K...
This theme while beautiful is also quite sad at the same time especially when you begin to unravel the truth about Isair and Madae as you stand outside the burnt remains of what was once their home. They initially didn't do anything wrong but Kuldahar's harsh treatment of them shattered any promises of them doing good in the world. They never had a chance to be anything else. Then there's finally coming into Kuldahar itself where it's all but abandoned. A far cry from what it was in the first Icewind Dale. Makes the whole experience all the more eerie.

Totally agree nailed it. That return to kuldahar is so epic to see what it's become, and nothings better than incorporating old places story wise into the sequel, IWD2 is hell of a game.

I like how IWD goes for more morally gray characters and situations than BG.

@@toprak3479 Yes though the Icewind Dale series never quite enjoyed the same success as Baldurs Gate as some didn't care for the Dungeon Crawler experience or the only way to get party members was to make them. However in a sense it was nice to do that as it encouraged people to get creative and think of what worked best in their group. Nevertheless Icewind Dale II truly excelled in a deep narrative that didn't go as far as it could have; it's a pity that the only option was to kill the twins. The game was crying out for a chance to let you join the Legion of the Chimera and incorporating multiple endings whether you helped the ten towns or decided to help Isair and Madae. It's one of the few games where you think do they really deserve to die or get another chance? You certainly wouldn't have felt that way about Irenicus or Saervok as the only acceptable outcome was to kill them even if Irenicus was an excellent character. The Ten Towns weren't innocent either and really they did have blood on their hands and deserved much of what they got. Icewind Dale II was a masterpiece for actually invoking such thoughts.

Its very beautiful, I find IWD1 is a bit more haunting in its music though. But I'd love to come back to IWD2 someday.

Yes, purportedly, this is the theme for imperiled Kuldahar, but... I absolutely believe _that in truth...it's the secret theme for _*_Isair & Madae;_*_ to be precise, the secret theme of _*_their robbed innocence_*_ ...the _*_tragedy_*_ of their childhood..._

Really nice music, but I think the original concept art by Black Isle is way better than my stuff though...

Not quite. You eventually come to Kuldahar, which was the main hub village in the first Icewind Dale that you went to after every dungeon, only to find in this game that it's fallen on hard (harder?) times. Here you find the truth about Isair and Madae's backstory, but there are a couple more dungeons to complete and areas to explore before the end of the game.
