Years ago I had purchased a Wright Tools SAE "straight" set of the long hex bit sockets. For years I couldn't find them and ended up getting a Kobalt USA ball end set which have been fine although I recently broke the 1/8" one. Couple weeks ago I had to remove the bottom drawer of my 20 year old Craftsman top tool chest. Guess what I found under that drawer. I found the Wright Tool set. Jackpot!

I have a couple of Bondhus folding hex key sets that have been used hard for 30 years and are still working fine, so I can agree with you about Bondhus durability. The last time I needed a 9mm hex key was never, though.

I now almost exclusively use Wera hex “plus” at work on printing equipment and at home for bicycles The hex plus has proven itself time after time on fasteners that are common in pm’s... never have damaged tool ends or stripped fasteners

I don't see how you can give a good review when you have never used them. Brand new out of box and you mic them that's now how you use tools. Definitely not a mechanic

Snap on rebrand bondhous and also they have the long shank you just have to press them into your own sockets.

I usually only buy and use bondhus hex keys because there steel is incredible. My curiosity made me try these at work. Only time will tell. After some use I will report back my opinion. I've been using bondhus for many years so well informed on what good hex keys can be

Very interesting, my standard set doesn't have any knurled sockets and there true to size. Not sure if they made changes listening to guys like yourself or I bought a set made on a Wednesday. Does the metric set have knurled sockets and the standard don't?

I recently bough a Dewalt socket set on sale, and the box it came in was so big it would waste space in my tool chest - it was easily 5 times as big as the sockets - so I put the sockets on a magnetic rail I put on the side of the chest. The box was so nice - sturdy, with a retracting handle and 4 clips to hold it shut - that I couldn't bring myself to throw it away. Fortunately, one my daughters wanted it for a small toolbox for her apartment. I really wish most tools came in shrink-wrap, if the need packaging at all. But I get why that's not possible - I just regret all the plastic I through away every time I engage in retail therapy. At least that Icon tray I could imagine putting in a tool chest, although I probably wouldn't, since the tools in a drawer would take up less than half the space.

Icon is garbage. Bad heat treatment. I sold most of my icon stuff. They round out. THEY ARE DEFINITELY not made by snap on. This was debunked. Someone started that rumor online with the breaker bars

yeh no way linked to snapon manufacturing . They not even a great effort for taiwan, much better can be found for most the icon range and for same price range . even with 20% ICON coupon it pretty spendy for quality level you get .

I use ICON sockets and screwdrivers on a daily basis and find them to be great. No issues so far. But that being said I have not put an impact gun on them.

How much time had you used the sockets for? And do you work on a shop every day? I heard bad things about them being to soft and getting dents, I do work every day on the shop and I'm thinking of upgrading from my Pittsburgh pro, Wich I had never had an issue with but are 2 years old now and the color faded away

larry borkstrom drive end on the ICON sockets I bought wore out as if you used a impact on them.. only used a hand ratchet and battery ratchet, yet they wore. Same with the whole socket, the hex end of the socket wore , and the outside-side of socket actually got dimples in some them 🤯

Id really like to see you try those Pittsburgh ball end bit sockets, i have them and each one ive used have broken on first attempt to use them. I do have some Pittsburgh sockets and stuff but that one set is a no no, not even in a pinch. I now use a Husky set, everyday at work, especially 4mm and 5mm, and even use them to break loose bolts and run them off with my milwaukee ratchet. So far not one has broken the ball tip off
