I love this dialogue, it is pure genius. She is being honest and manipulative at the same time. Even her acting is really good. Her soft voice is hypnotising the father and the son by telling the truth, using established ideas about women and man in general at the time and mashing them. Nice job.
@DerekS-kq3zh
28 күн бұрын
That's the thing though, she's not "mashing" anything. She's reframing old ideas in a new way, not trying to destroy them. She's offering a different interpretation for the typical human courtship rituals we often see. This is what it means to challenge cultural norms. You have to understand something before you can deconstruct it.

Too bad she was so effectively conditioned to believe her only value was in the fleeting perfection of youth she only knew she could count on fading, if not how quickly. She was just in her early thirties when she tossed it in. Then, back in the early 60s, the slave driving studio bosses surely drove it home that her value was only as certain to endure as youth is fleeting. Hadn't everything about her childhood primed her to believe she had no worth beyond that dictated by the fickle fancies & fetishes of fat, foolish film financiers.
