Fully agree with what you said about lighting. Humans are just advanced plants in how we strongly and subtly react with the lighting around us. My current studio is in my garage, but I'm not mad at all because my primary light source is the sun and *chef's kiss* and my favorite studio/office/apartment spaces have high and tall windows for an outside vibe.

I LOVE how you said humans are just advanced plants, that resonates with me completely! I NEED sunshine/fresh air and get so depressed with a few dreary days in a row. My husband has all the windows shut and shaded in his office, it's basically a cave, I hate it!! I need fresh air and sunshine, I'm an advanced plant (I will be using that!🍃☘️🌿🌱)😊

Ooh great! Recently started renting a small art studio and much of this stuff has been buzzing in my head lately. I love what you said about "work lights". ;) Yes, they can be such beautiful functional objects. If you dig, you can find really fantastic vintage ones for very reasonable prices. I find the same is true for vintage industrial stools/shop chairs made of gorgeous wood and iron etc. Thanks for this video!

loving all these aesthetics & you made some rly good points to think about!! having a space that is aesthetically + personally satisfying, intentional & organized where everything has a place, and the concept of the space being a blank canvas where you can go and create, not being so cluttered or clogged up but there is room for new ideas + new projects to arise in this space! i feel like having the right space can be really inspiring and is so integral to creativity and forward development

As a potter myself I have a house, a studio for pottery, and a kiln in the outside shed which costs thousands of dollars to run electricity from the house to the shed. It does take a lot of money to invest in the beginning.... Thousands.. So in the beginning you are taking whatever you can to build your studio, which will be a mesh mosh of stuff and nothing will match. My 1st idea is to upgrade on a bigger kiln, slab roller, and pug machine 10k total or more... then let's talk about colors and lovely spaces. You have a wonderful eye for design. Which is very inspiring.

Im obsessed with designing my studio. i became annoyed with the random mismash of organizational pieces, and furniture. So I decided anything I already have but don't like the color of, I will just paint yellow or red, and anything new I will try to incorporate warm wood if I can. I am now on the hunt for a comfy chair. Also, I am not a neat person, but having a place for everything to go is so life changing.

Issey, This was a fun video to watch since you talked about things that have been foreign to my male technical mind. But I really did laugh when you said you disliked gray as you sat there with, at least what appeared to be, a gray top on. Now, on to your next videos to see which of these concepts you used to set up your new studio.

Very inspiring..makes me think ofhow to improve my studio space. I like the idea of using colour in your creative space. Not keen on the use of fabric in a ceramics studio though...too much dust. I can see reorganisation on the way ❤
