Engine on with muffs. After a link and sync from manual. After returning to neutral the throttle cable isnt being pushed far enough to return to its stop. Trunnion nut adjuster is already fully wound in. Suspect stretched throttle cable, but any ideas?

Good day. I have the exact motor with the exact problem. Did you ever solve it? New cables?

I didnt yet, its annoying but my larger problem is the boat bogging down at WOT so I'll come back to this one once that issue is fixed! shout if you fix it! I suspect new cables would do a world of good.

@@JasonDainter Understood. Yes I had/have the same issue under load (the lake) when I go to WOT, it will bog down and stall. I found a little fix which works to get me going until I understand what the problem really is. Once engine is warmed up via the warm up lever, I drop the lever and put the engine in gear immediately and the boat will move slow. Then I will just tap the key in (push) to choke it for a moment and the throttle will open up and go faster, then I do it once more again just before she slows down and stalls out and then it’s smooth sailing the rest of the time until I turn off the engine. Crazy odd I know, but it works for me right now. Next on the agenda are new coils/power pack and most likely new throttle and gear linkage. This engine ran great 12 years ago before I parked it outside for 10 years under the poplar trees in northern Alberta. Lol The boat is completely rebuilt now except the hull and the main parts of the engine. I’ve learned a lot over the past 4 years rebuilding it. But it’s fun to take the kids out. B.O.A.T…. 😂

@@desertfoxyloxy OK so i fixed the bog issue today. A small washer (gasket actually) was missing in the lower carp, put it in and bingo. It was leaking sucking in too much air (running lean, eg not enough petrol in the mix). So with your issue, i you are tapping the choke to fix the issue (in the key this triggers a little magnetic choke that flashes on the choke for a second) then you'll probably find that if you cover one of the carps with a rag (careful it doesnt suck it up) whilst another person drives when the bog is happening you'll probably notice the same thing. This will eliminate a lot of things for starters which carb has the issue (if you have 2 that is like mine). If tapping the choke works as a fix, it sounds like its running lean (not enough petrol in the mix / too much air). But the issue is different to mine as my issue would bog permanently, wheres yours seems to fix it once its past the bog. Try the forums.iboats.com/ forum its fairly helpful with people a lot more experienced than me!
