Is there a way to know how wide to make slippers if you don't have the foot to measure? For instance, I am making slippers for a kid that wears the xs equivalent to the pattern. I made it 33 chains in length as that was the conversion. However, I am unsure how to figure out the width. I would use my foot as a starting guide, but I have widish feet.

Thankyou so much for this! I'm a wheelchair user who doesn't have many shoes at the moment (so I don't need shoes with a strong sole, they just have to look look like shoes and not socks) so I'm gonna make one out of all the yarn colours I have in my home and use them as my shoes for when I need delicate looking shoes for parties or events. I only own one pair of trainers and one pair of old hiking boots (from the days when I could walk, they're so old now 😂) and they're not exactly suitable for parties or events where I need smart looking shoes. But these are perfect! I'm gonna go from "2 shoes fiona" to 10 "shoes" fiona in only a few days 😂😂

I used to crochet a lot. But through several moves I lost my patterns. I started looking today for slippers to do fast. I like your pattern. But most I like the clear way you explain and how you tell beginners when to stop and complete the section of the pattern! I have subscribed because of this. I am 73. I have many hobbies but this year I am fighting stage 4 kidney cancer for the second time in my life. So I am doing only fast easy things because I have to rest a lot. I am excited to make those slippers to warm my cold feet! Thank you.

I just want to say, thank you for showing some of the little bits there. Like the point where you slip stitch the second from the toe. I'm working on a project now that involves slip-stitching pieces together, and it's frustrating. Seeing an obvious expert have the same issues I do--finding the V, pulling the yarn through, all that--makes me feel a lot better about my abilities in crochet. It's good to know that this is part of the craft, not me being incompetent. I know it may not seem like much, but to someone who's just starting to try to improve it really does mean a lot. I love the slippers, too! I have a young daughter that may need to get a pair of these!
