We have found that on a 21 inch front it is often a lot easier to use tire irons. There isn't a lot of room on those narrow rims. It goes really fast with two guys and three or four tire irons.

The best part about the DL1000 spacer mod isn't the strait chainline, it's not knocking the spacers out every time you try to put the wheel in the swingarm.

Another great video. It's nice to see I'm not the only one to struggle with a tire now and then. But here's the thing -- it's tough being a motonut in the north. Perhaps we all need jobs that give us an excuse to go south for a few weeks each winter, where, coincidentally, we'd have to ride bikes.

Looks like you had fun! If you do forget to put the chain on, you dont have to pull the axle right out again! Just get the adjuster blocks to move out enough so you can push the wheel forward enough to get the chain on.

if the tire has a colored stamp on the side it needs to line up with the valve stem, also if you screw the chain adjust bolts all the way in it makes installing the axle easier. good vid, wish i had that tire changer

You 2 at funny and entertaining. Steering head bearings loose or worn can make the front tire wander. I always wash clean the old tire and rim at the start. This is more professional and reduces the possibility of getting in the way of mounting and dismounting, and helps sealing. Also aids balancing. Do not be hackers. Love the dirt you 2 got onto the axle and wheel spacers. I could hear it. LOL.

We use two or three "Yellow Things" to keep the tire bead in the channel. Most of us carry one "Yellow Thing" in our tool bags, so someone or other will volunteer a "Yellow Thing" on the roadside. Your bead tool looks like it might be lighter than a "Yellow Thing". But, in keeping with the innuendoes (lub jokes, etc), the "Yellow Thing" looks custom built to serve a second function.

18:46 you can check that it is evenly seated by checking the rubber raised line in the tire which usually runs 2 mm away from the rim edge. You should try installing a super stiff Michelin Anakee 3 on a R1200 GSA LC using tire irons (and plastic shims for rim protection) and Irwin clamps to get the bead into the rim center. Never had to go to that extent in 47 years of tires changes. I'll be getting a NoMar tire changer, getting old I guess.

+WashburnsAdventures The F650GS single? BMW got us all confused when they badged some of the 800cc twins as 650s. Either way the bike will be fine for what we do. Real skid plate, real tires and handguards and it will be ready. Joe has a 650 X-Challenge which has the single cylinder Rotax with the better HP2 style suspension and it is awesome. Depending on the model some had 21" front wheels, some 19". There was a Dakar model back in the day that had the 21". I've ridden with guys who had the 650 and 700 Twins and they weren't as good with the 19" front and crappier suspension bt they got it done.

These No Mar machines are not as easy to use as demonstrated on tires for certain models of motorcycles. Rear Harley Touring bike tires and Goldwings will give you quite the work out. Anyway - does that video means that Enrico dumped his belowed DR?

saracen1608 No the V-strom was Henrik's street bike. He sold it not long afterwards and now rides a Valkerie as his road bike. I would rather remove the wheel than play with the adjusters. Hi Guys, Please advise anyone who changed to new tires to take it easy on the first kilometers. New tires are covered with a kind of grease to prevent getting to dry. This grease and the 'lube' can get very slicky. The best way to clean the tire right after it´s mounted is to ride on sand/dirty.
