I think Deftones would have definetly written something like Everlong if it wasn't already written by Foo Fighters, it falls right into the vibe they had on White Pony / self titled... When I listen to the original it already gives me a bit of Deftones feel, probably because it has that nostalgic sound that songs like Drive also have

They sort of did. Be Quiet and Drive uses very similar chords. That open Drop D top string, with the 9th fret on the A string is one of my favorite chords. Everlong adds the 11th fret on the D string. Be Quiet and Drive mutes the D string and plays and octave on the G, 11th fret. I love both songs. Then both songs go up to a B. Be Quite stays there, Everlong slides down to G briefly, then back up to B.

be quiet and drive is drop c# and goes from the c# major chord with the no fifth shape they always use, to an a#sus2 everlong is drop d and goes from a fifthless dmaj7 to a bsus2

This is awesome! So many “versions” of songs are just adding a heavy guitar or some distortion effects but this really is an exact imagination of what it would be like. Make a whole album. I’d listen.

Long time Deftones fan first time poster. This is fucking awesome, it would be one of my favorite songs if Deftones actually made this. I've seen them over 10 times in concert and actually caught one of his guitars he threw out. still have it. Keep making more of these videos please you rock. :)

Wow blown away by this. Deftones x Everlong already had me but this had it on every level - great musicianship, great production, and most of all very creative (especially the chorus). Only thing I would add would be a solo that tracks the chorus coming out of the bridge or in the bridge.

Wow. Absolutely superb rendition of this great song. You took it to a completely different and darker place, it sounds so good. I was just trying to play Everlong with myself on guitar and my son on drums and we immediately got way too metal. Thus the KZitem search "Heavy Metal Version of Everlong". And her we are! \m/

I think that there was one tour they did back in the early 2000s where they would cover a portion of everlong before leading into 7 words. I think it was the tour that the "Wasted at Waldrock" incident occured.

Everlong is almost the exact same chords as "be quiet and drive". BQ&d is just like a half step down. It's a neat little comparison I make with my music students. "Lol at what these cords are doing, it's basically the same harmonic movement. See music theory exists in alt rock and is worth learning about I promise"

I mean this is a compliment but to be honest you sound more like Maynard James Keenan trying to imitate Chino Moreno than Chino himself. Instrumentally though you're spot on, though I did get a slight hint of Chevelle in the beginning.

This was really well done, it's one of the best what if band videos I have seen. You captured the deftones vocal sound well while also still playing a version of the guitar that still has sounds of the original everlong song, but it has that good Deftones guitar sound also. 👍
