TKD Can have some Really powerful Kicks. Key part is CAN. Its just the commercialized Dojos do not teach any real good Application. And The Spin where your Turing your back on your Opponent. Its in a LOT of styles. That move works really only if some one is straight up rushing to you and a VERY limited amount of other situations. Its a Fun Kick. Not that practical. But I have learned ALL martial arts has such things.
@Minsang1st

@@nunyabiz7699 back kick can be used offensively to hit first. You just have to dial it in and be accurate with it and not throw it multiple times to the point your opponent can read the pattern. And that’s really what one of the keys with spinning techniques is, element of surprise. They are inherently riskier than jab cross hook or round kick, but if you can hide it well enough with other techniques and have a good technique, it works.

It's up there with muay thai for really selling you on just a small handful of highly effective techniques... at first, before TKD slips into the stage where your instructor says you have to count and learn vocabulary in Korean and practice funny hand movements to get your next belt. Which is like 3 belts in, in my comparatively limited 2 year experience. Kinda flounders from there, teaching silly stuff like multiple kicks in one jump, spinning several times in the air before kicking, etc. Until then tho, the basics work. Really though, the side kick, back kick, and footwork are excellent with even a little practice, if not practical for any normal person to use against a prepared combatant. But then you've got folks like Anderson Silva KO'ing world class competition with a straight kick to the face, so like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Isn't there a rule that only above 14 you can get the black belt?
@kristinag7033

@@jenolaszlo2167 I think it depends on the dojang and the lineage. In our lineage 14 and up can receive junior black belt though they are hard to come by. Only 18+ can be a full black belt.
