I'm 74 and live in NYC. Starting 10 years after John Lennon died. I started going Central Park - Strawberry Fields. There were numerous very large groups of fans scattered all thru Central Park. While I never purposely set out to learn all the words, I did know every lyric to every song they wrote. What amazed me were people specifically there from countries all over the world. The feeling of everyone singing together was amazing. One of the most heart lifting things I ever did. I did see the Beatles perform in 66 in Boston. I will always be grateful to have been the age I am, to have the Beatles creating the soundtrack to my life

I was 21 years-old when John passed. I was working that night almost on a direct line from the Dakotas if you drew a line from the building across Central Park to 5th Avenue. I remember standing outside the building where I worked and thinking that someone that I deeply admired was taken away from us. It was a night I will never forget. A few days later I was at the first memorial held for John at Central Park, when the Strawberry Fields spot didn't exist yet. This brings a lot of memories of those days.

As I recall, he goes down in some places where Paul goes up, and for whatever reason, it's Paul's melody there that rings through most clearly. Anyway, love the song and fun to see so many play and sing it in tribute to John.
