Stone Glaciers pants are the best pants in the hunting space. I love the custom fit waist.

Excellent advice, Brady. Their gear really gives all the big name companies a run for their money.

I have the Grumman 850+ down pant and coat, as insulation layers and couldn’t be happier with their performance, just wished they were made here in the USA. My next oack will be the Sky Talus in their new green, which is made in the U.S.

We too wish that 100% of their products were MADE IN USA! Thanks for the comment. Let us know if we can help with your Sky Talus purchase when the time comes. 👍

Since you have used the Sitka Merino now too...how are the SG and Sitka merino pieces stacking up against each other?

You have almost the same build as me, What size do you buy? I bought a small cirque and it fit good with a wind layer. But the bottom of the jacket feels a little short and gets caught by a belt. I was thinking medium but worry the back extended flap would be way to long

I buy a medium in almost all of their tops and they fit great. I'm 6'1" with a shorter torso, and the tail of the cirque is not an issue for me.

I know these guys are hunting company but what would you recommend for a backpacking pack.

Our team uses our hunting backpacks year round, whether we are actively hunting or backpacking for general recreation prior to the seasons. They are proven both comfortable and tough. For that reason alone, we would still recommend a backpack proven to be comfortable under load such as those made by Stone Glacier, Exo Mtn Gear, or even the new Metcalf series by Mystery Ranch. The newly released Metcalf 50 by Mystery Ranch would work great (for example), but you may be able to save a few pounds on the pack and frame by going with a "recreational only" backpack such as those made by Osprey, Hyperlite, etc.

Why this over First Lite? Video doesn't do us much good if there's no comparison. Stone Glacier tends to be overpriced and Im not sure why Id choose it over the more well known stuff. Did you get paid by them to do this?

Interesting comments and suggestions. This video wasn't intended to be a comparison with any alternative brand to Stone Glacier. To do so could arguably become endless once one considers the many brands at-hand (i.e., First Lite, KUIU, Sitka, or even those from the non-hunting specific market). Stone Glacier products are price competitively with other brands who have been longer "standing" in the community IMO. Factor the patented Contour Waist System and extended-length side zippers for venting from their De Havilland LITE Pants against the current Corrugate Guide Pant (for example), and we're looking at a near "apples-to-apples" comparison of product types and their pricing against their features. No, we do not get paid by Stone Glacier to make this video. I've owned several First Lite products in many years past now, and most of them performed quite well, but I do not think that they out perform Stone Glacier and certainly don't dual-purpose as well with everyday wear. Cheers! - Forest
