#4 - Learn music. Become a real musician. Learn musical concepts and theory. If you can play with a band or others after you get a little good try it out. Regarding step 1 - Recreating stuff: without the musical understanding/ theory (eg chords, scales, etc) you don’t get as much out of it.

We can’t post covers to social media without proper permission from the copyright holders, so why would this be a good idea?? People are constantly getting demonetized for this stuff…

On recreating music - it’s tough to play the music you hear sometimes. I use audio to midi software to get an idea of what’s being played but most are so terrible. I’m currently using SampLab and Ableton (audio to midi functions) but often the conversions are just wrong. Anybody know of any better ones?

Formidable advice with IMHO a couple of caveats : I think this is a great idea to try to recreate tracks, but! There really is no specific system to compose melodies, bass lines, or anything else. Every artist has their own way and you gotta figure it out. Also I know a bunch of people able to reproduce a 1:1 copy of a record yet totally uncapable of any creativity, so you gotta balance this out. Edit : I understand for producers specifically it's great tho Another thing I kind of disagree with, is that imitating what's already popular will get you there. I think as a songwriter it's a big misconception and let me explain : in business, we say that the moment someone unveil a secret, it means the market it dead. The moment everyone talks about autotune, autotune is dead. You can hop on a trend and get some success, but you aren't going to stay relevant very long without you yourself innovating or simply bringing something fresh. However, I agree that those are great ideas that I will implement in my workflow as a musician!!!

Hey, I'm new to this Chenal. I saw lot of producer's like you, who doing production more in pop side, Always used Pro Tools or Abltan. what't the reson for that, why you guys don't use Fl studio ? please explain
@norakat

Plenty of producers use FL Studio. Lot of big names too. Having used Protools most my life and having used Ableton also, I think FL has the fastest workflow. There’s pros and cons to all the DAWs. Use what you like, and you don’t have to stick to just one.

my advice for those seeking a mentor, find someone who has left the same industry you're currently in rather than someone who is active. They'll hold back less help and advice you'd need.

Nope they will just have you share the Adsense revenue with the copyright owners. That’s basically why I make close to nothing on this channel heheh

Right so how do you find a mentor? Honestly it’s been something I’ve been trying to find someone willing to give their time who’s got that experience. Yes you’ve got a platform but the how is missing from this vital point.
@BeatAcademy

Great Question. Yes I purposely created Beat Academy as my platform to mentor others, in but in general try leading with a mindset that aims to provide any kind of value you can even to those you are looking to gain mentoring from.
