For the first situation, Steve’s best defense is that he bought the car and registered it under the brother’s name so Steve was not the one “entrusting” the car to George. However, given the other context of how Steve and his friends reacted to the situation , I don’t think that completely gets rid of his potential liability (if there were a car wreck that night). The reality is that when you are successful you have a bigger target on your back for liabilities. I was just trying to point out some instances that I would do differently if I were Steve…

He can’t take it back once title is signed over and the car was registered in someone else’s name. That means ownership is taken over and previous owner is just that, a previous owner with No legal rights anymore. It’s legally in the brothers name. And it’s up to the brother to say no you can’t drive it until you get your license. Most states don’t allow a minor to register a car in their name. My daughter is 17 and paying for her own car but it’s registered in our name. When we first got the car she didn’t have her full license and she wasn’t allowed to drive it (even tho she made her first payment on the car) until she did period. Legally as of now me and her father own that car and she can’t have it in her name until she turns 18 in March. Then we will transfer it over to her name. We are responsible legally for any legal issues that occur with the car until that time. Same for George’s brother, he’s legally responsible to make sure he doesn’t drive it and I’d say he was legally responsible that night George did drive it. He allowed him to take it.
@Skag_Sisyphus

I mean, there's no way he still has the vehicle. The cops absolutely impounded that shit and who knows if he's clear to take it back or not. Unless he spoke to the kid like six months or a year later, his case probably isn't even over. And by he, i do mean kids brother because technically the brother is the registered owner. They could have gone after the kids brother too and just ruined the shit out of both kids lives. I'm glad it looks like things will work out, but it's Florida, and it could have gone badly. That car is probably gone unless Steve pays to get it out when the case is over aaand... Ffff yeah, that's going to be a fuck ton of cash and that car is probably gone. Most people don't have like an extra hundred k to get a car out of impound.

@@Skag_Sisyphus unfortunately, Florida often gives juveniles here just a slap on the wrist, even for serious offenses. I've seen it first hand and it's pitiful what under 18 crowd can get away with. You are probably right that they impounded it, but it's highly likely the brother who it was registered to was able to come down and pick it up and just say "my little brother stole my car and went joy riding". If they told the cops the truth that it's actually intended to be the kid's car, but we are circumventing the law until he gets his license, it might have a different outcome.

I don't think Steve has any liability in the. first case, it could be said that he passed the liability to the kid's brother after he signed the car away. Someone can also argue that trusting the car to the kid's brother is negligent entrustment, but you can go back and forth on is this negligent entrustment forever and never arrive on a single person. At most, Steve is as liable as the kid's brother.

I'd looove to see your take on the video where David Dobrick swung that guy around using that rather large piece of construction equipment, and the guy DID get hurt. On the other hand, you might actually turn inside out if you watch it... But still!

As a person who is pretty average in life and in maturity I’m surprised you’re a fan of steve. The dude is a child and he obviously has an influence on impressionable kids that see his crazy unhealthy and unsustainable lifestyle and wanna be like him. Gambling, binge drinking, fucking with people etc. Not to mention him and all the Nelk boys constantly making peoples jobs harder (look at their wine tour videos for prime examples)

Everybody hating on George but the brain doesn't properly develop the connection between action and consequence until the early/mid 20's. I probably would have done something similar to George at that age, maybe without the police chase part. Steve however is a grown-ass man who should know that giving a sportscar to a 16-year-old with no license is a terrible fucking idea.

Just found Tom's channel and been binging a bit. Isn't George's family going to have to pay tax on that car? I'm not from the US but I assume tax on a new camaro isn't cheap.

When you mention that SteveWilDoIt was making "an employee" do something, if there was an accident he could sue Steve. You made no mention of Worker's Compensation or whether the sort of things they do are foreseeable as part of his employment. If so, wouldn't Workers' Compensation law apply? In that case the employee is not allowed to sue, but is guaranteed payment of 80% of former wages for the time the person is recovering, and 100% of all medical expenses for as long as the injury is present, which if the person receives a disabling injury, could be for life.

I don’t know the whole situation but from what I’ve seen, Steve really sucks. You give a child who doesn’t even have a license a highly expensive sports car and… for what? What 16 year old with no driving experience is gonna be able to not wreck that car not to mention the fact that it’s a guarantee that he’d do something stupid cause he’s a 16 year old boy with a popularity magnet. He has an older brother. He has a ma. But you entrust a camero with this child who you don’t even accurately discipline after he makes a massive mistake that put your freedom and others lives at risk. There are adults who have to take the bus or walk hours to work cause they can’t afford a vehicle. Folks who’d break down from greatfullness if you have them a 2004 Ford. But you do this? Why, Steve? A million times, why?
