@KalvinEllis

Ironically, the one guy who truly did grab that "brass ring" was Undertaker. He could've crashed and burned easily with that gimmick that Vince had him play, but not only he made it work and turned it into the greatest character in WWE history, but it lasted for 30 years. If there's one true example in this company for the otherwise absurd "grab the brass ring" phrase, it's undoubtedly him.

@@madddoggnogood1491 No, because they were never meant to get over. Same with Edge, CM Punk, AJ Lee, etc. Undertaker was hired to play a character that Vince created, and it was up to him to sink or swim. When they talk about this "brass ring" thing, it's not about being a midcard wrestler who works their way to the top, it's about being given an opportunity to make it big and doing the best with it. That's what Undertaker did better than anyone else.

@@KalvinEllis Ok by your standard.....new day has to be there too. But that's not a brass ring. Because vince had everything intention of getting undertaker over. The brass ring means a meritocracy. Meaning that if you get over on your own and work hard you will get rewarded. Which is only true if vince has every intention to see you do or doesn't mind if you do. The gimmick could have failed but vince had every intention of making sure it didn't. So that's not grabbing the brass ring if vince hands it to you and super glues it to your hands to make sure you don't drop it. Undertaker, like hogan, Lesnar and others....Vince handed them the brass ring and made sure they didn't drop it. Others like Bryan, becky , punk, grabbed the brass ring and vince tried to take it away from them but couldn't. Others like Ryder and Rusev....grabbed it and had it yanked from then by force because they got over without permission

The only person I would’ve had end the streak is Bray Wyatt. He was the perfect guy for the job. He was young, he cut great promos and he could work. Plus, he had that character of a cult like leader who played mind games. He checked off all the boxes to be a Undertaker-esque character and he was over. And instead of building up Bray another year, and having him beat Cena at Mania that year, they had him lose and it killed all his momentum. He was never the same after that. But Bray was the only guy on that roster who you could build up as another ‘supernatural/psychological’ character that fans would believe in and he would be made for life for being the one to break the streak. Not nearly as many people would disagree with Bray being the guy to do it at that time.

Well that’s kind of the point of letting someone else beat him that isn’t a top store. If you had a good worker that was good on the mic and actually look like he had a promising future that the fans respected and if the company would get behind him after he beat the undertaker, that would be a good way to make a new store. But instead you let Brock do it , A guy that’s already a star, and someone who only works four days out of the year at most. My first choice would have not been John Cena or Brock Lesnar because they’re already big stores. I mean pick someone that’s going to be in the company for another decade for crying out loud! I’m not a brac heater at all but they let the one guy beat the undertaker at wrestlemania that wouldn’t do anything for the company moving forward. But with Roman, the ONLY WAY I could see him ending the streak is if he turned heel like they really should've done. Then from there, he goes on destructive run on Raw that even sees him winning the World Title by Summerslam & becomes a monster heel champion until WrestleMania 34 where he loses Finn Bálor or possibly Braun Strowman.

This situation could have been resolved better by roman reigns ending the streak. Here's how you do it. Roman wins that royal rumble by eliminating batista at the end. That would have fans happy even if Daniel Bryan wasn't involved. Then instead of reigns going to mania to face Orton, he sacrifices his title shot saying he can win that whenever he wants but the undertaker hasn't got many more matches left and instead he wants to end the streak. That sets up the match between taker and reigns at a time reigns was over. There he ends the streak and you got a bigger star in reigns that WWE didn't need to ram down our throats making him despised. Everything else in wrestlemania occurs the same as batista being the runner up takes reigns place as the challenger for Ortons title making batista a heel officially and you still include Bryan. Only difference is you make reigns push more subtle and more substantial.

Is Vince McMahon aware that wrestling is a fucking WORK??? I know he has a hard-on for hosses and bringing in MMA guys to try to get people to actually take professional wrestling seriously, but it's a fucking WORK. What did Brock beating Taker's streak do? Fucking nothing. You did it to push a part-timer champion who everyone has been sick of for years. Also, as you can probably tell by now, I personally don't think the streak should have ended, but if it was gonna be someone else... why not Kane? I mean, I know he's had his share of awful gimmicks in recent years, but you'd be hard pressed to find someone in the WWE who's career intertwines more with Taker's than the Big Red Machine.

So Orton wasn't credible? Nor Punk? Nor Roman (HAHAHAHAHAHA!)? Not going to mentioned Wyatt. Then.

Undertaker coulda retired in 2010 cuz he had those amazing matches with HBK and was off tv when Kane beat him. I stopped watching Smackdown n Jericho stopped wrestling for his Fozzy tour.

It wasn’t that Lesnar couldn’t be credible ... it was no forward thought - we saw cena beat him on returning and at previous WM we saw HHH beat him. The build up to taker v BS was so weak

If Brock was going to end The Streak, fine; but the pay off should have been Brock putting over one of the next big stars either at WrestleMania 31 or 32. Instead The Undertaker was the first one to beat Lesnar, then Brock got squashed by Goldberg. On top of that Brock beat Roman Reigns three straight times before Reigns finally beat him, only for Reigns having to forfeit the Universal Championship because of his Leukaemia. Then Rollins beat Lesnar, only to lose the title back to Brock, beat Brock again and then looses the title two months later to The Fiend. Now McIntyre beat Brock, but it didn’t mean as much due to everything I just mentioned.

I'm no cm punk fan but I thought he should have beaten undertaker. It would have increased his value as a heel at the time.

They should've had him keep it. After everything he gave to McMahon, the least he could've given him was that. However, Brock was the only logical person to snap it. I know most people would pitch Orton, Angle, HBK, and so forth. But Lesnar is a once in a lifetime attraction and athlete. No one else IMO should've been considered to break it other than Brock. I just wish that they had planned this well before that way the storyline could've been better, and the match itself could've been better. I was there live for it. I can tell you straight up other than the entrances, and when the bell rang, the match was awful and boring. Taker and Brock deserved so much better than that.

I can come up with a few names who, if booked correctly and got over, could have possibly been credible. Finn Balor, Bray Wyatt, Aleister Black down the road, heck I'll even throw in Roman Reigns if WWE had a do over to book him the right way and have people for him rather than against him. All could have potentially been built up to challenge Undertaker. But no, its gotta be Brock because who needs new stars right?

I would've loved to have seen Bray Wyatt be the one to have ended Taker's streak. Taker's streak being broken wasn't the only stupid decision made for WrestleMania XXX.

Dawg its obvious they prey on people who want to be specifically a WWE superstar. Every babyface arrives and says now that they are there in WWE, its heaven and their dreams have come true! Never hey imma go for a belt which youd think someone would care about more but WWE would rather keep planting a seed for generations to come that they should aim for WWE as their dreamspot because they want kids to be marks for the business and then they can prey on it and manipulate them into eating shit while they're there, because as a kid it was their dream. Nxt makes it even easier to push that narrative because the second they come up, Oh yay! im on the main roster promos happen until they get lost in the middle card shuffle and bring up new plunky nxters to spit those promos.

Even though the timeline wouldn't add up. If Orton debuted way later and still had the legend killer gimmick keeping them apart having Orton take every single legend out building up wins to set up Orton vs Taker and having Orton take the streak.
