@@timothyavendt677 Yep! It always happens one of two ways: 1) The guest puts in their order, then continues looking at the menu and, ultimately, sees something else they want more. When the food arrives, they put on a big show that they didn’t order that item (this has increased since the pandemic, since the guests have access to the menus through a QR code). 2) They simply order the wrong item by accident. When it arrives, they will swear up and down that they did NOT order this particular dish. Even though this is annoying (especially because I always write everything down verbatim and then repeat it back), we still have to apologize and act like it’s our fault. Though, it’s always nice when somebody else at the table has our backs… it almost brings a joyful tear to my eye.

The sweetest sweetheart to ever sweet, during the day, can become an irrational judo fighter, "on the run from terrorists," after five pm. I sometimes ask the server to bring me whatever the chef wants to make, literally anything. Plenty of times the meal is pretty nice but inexpensive with a note of thanks, from the chef. My dad’s a chef, I afford them freedom. Then, I got an allergy test result and had to kinda limit the freedom. I still get smiles from chefs. Come on, hungry people, accept whatever the server brings. Forget what you ordered or what you think you want. You are hungry and will likely enjoy what the chef has sent.

As a chef I can confirm that this would constantly show the servers throwing themselves under the bus not so much guests 🤣🤣

Anyone working with the public should be wearing body cams. Oh the fun we can have proving them wrong. 😁

I actually did carry a tape recorder around for this very reason. Of course, I was only ever going to “check the tape” if my job was on the line. As it turns out, how the tape recorder really served me was when it captured the manager telling me to work off the clock to do my side work. And then it captured another time when another manager had us all sign this waiver of our right to sue, and I said I couldn’t sign that, and then she said (maybe jokingly, or maybe not) that she would just sign it for me later. Of course, I was only ever going to “check the tape” if my job was on the line, or if I didn’t get my promotion to server (I was a busser). I got the promotion. Tape recorders on the job are a very good thing if you live in a (US) state that allows it and if it isn’t expressly prohibited by your work rules.

I love the managers at my work because they've told us for moments like these we just charge them for both dishes unless its a mistake on our end.

Had this happen to me once, and to make sure I always repeat the order back to the guest. So when her dish arrives she tries to gaslight me into thinking I messed up then her teenage boy told her that the dish is what she ordered in fact.

No clue how I constantly binge your videos and wasn’t subscribed. Sorry about that. I am now. You make all of my nostalgia tingles fire right up and I adore you both for it. 🖤

Used to work at a sushi restaurant and we would have plastified menus so customers would write to select items. I kept thoses close and would bring them back when they told me they did not order that 😂.

I mean it’s no problem he wants the other chicken. He just has to pay for both in my opinion. 😅🤷🏽♀️

Oohhhh my word. I repeat the order, ALWAYS, while making eyecontact with the person who ordered. And people still act this way. Been in hospitality from 17 years old, coming on 30 now, love your videos, they're so spot on!!!
