I'm still only 3 and a half minutes in but I have to admit that having your wife participate in doing a video was a brilliant idea. I think there are a lot of people whether female or male who would be just as nervous as she seems to be trying to pull this off (myself included). Kudos.

Jessica did phenomenal. I really think this video will encourage more women to try to fix their electronics. I was so afraid of breaking something that took me years to finally try it myself. Another Idea for a video could be Jessica changing the Joycon shells, it's something a lot of people want to do but they don't feel confident enough to try it themselves.

Yes! It's definitely more intimidating to work with electronics than it is to actually fix them. When I learned how to assemble my own PC when I was 19, I was blown away with how straightforward it was. A little reading online and double checking to make sure parts are compatible is all it takes.

Aw I'd love to do something like this. I'd love to be able to fix my own stuff, but I'm always just too worried I'd do something wrong and make it worse so end up just going to a shop to fix it instead. Having someone watch and guide, but largely actually leave it up to you to do and just offering help when needed would give me so much confidence to take on other tasks!

One advice I can give you is to start small. If you have any electrical device thats broken, tear it apart. Maybe you‘ll find the fault, or at least you‘ll understand how it works. You have nothing to lose, since it‘s already broken and you can‘t make it worse. That’s how I started. I couldn’t fix it, but I learned. I‘m far away from Steve though. It is big fun to bring dead tech back to live. My first repair was a 20“ LCD monitor w/o backlight I got for free. I replaced two bulging capacitors and there was light again. Since I had a CRT at that time, it was a big step up.

I've seen steve fix so many things now and learned a lot but small things such as the technique to un plug and re plug that ribbon cable i missed and such a video where the process was slow and the questions asked actually made me realise that i didnt pick up on such techniques before and learned something new in this video, Nintendo definitely makes things difficult on their consoles, such as the 3ds and this seemed difficult but not too difficult, definitely great that steve is there to help in the tricky parts, I too got confused in a couple of areas so it was a good learning process watching a beginner attempt this repair.
