Solid opinions man, a lot of people just focus on the context of the story and remove themselves from the situation, so they'll say Griffith was justified because he had no other option, but raping Casca proved he was acting on petty feelings as much as his other emotions. And the biggest thing is, if someone knew a guy like Griffith who screwed them over, they'd never forgive them, that real world aspect is key to making people get it.

I do believe that Griffith wasn’t entirely to blame for accepting the Godhand’s offer, the universe literally conspired against him to get him to this point and after all the shit he went through with the king, his judgment was impaired. However, once he had been restored to a godly body, renewing his chance to become a king, he faces full accountability for his horrid actions, like raping Casca, and not telling anyone how he gained his awesome power. A good man would be honest, not hide his crimes through a veil of false light.

You asume that Griffith sees the band as his friends. He does not. He specifically says to the princess that in order for someone to be his friend first he has to become his equal, to have a dream of his own. The Band of the Hawk was nothing but a tool for him to achieve his goal and he used them till the very end to become a demi god. He did have feelings for them once but he came to the realization that attachment to soldiers that can die in the next battle is foolish and he was right. The only stupid thing he did was sleeping with the princess and in that state he was very depressed. People can say what they want but i personally think that he was very confused how to feel about Guts. He saw him as a friend but the same time as a tool as well. Guts leaving made him feel lonely and isolated again, just a leader among tools. Mind you it was not Guts's fault. I have seen a lot of people claiming that they are morally good but in reality they are just fooling themselves. If they got flayed, tortured for a year, being cripled for life not being able to bathe, use the bathroom by themselves they would want to fix that and death would be the last option. Idk how the Behelith got triggered but the moment the band entered literal Hell they were dead no matter what choice Griffith would have made. I doubt that the God Hand would have returned them back into the real world if Griffith said no. All i see is that Griffith saw the band as a tool because he suffered mentally if he got attached and in order to become a god, he sacrificed a hundred tool soldiers so that all those who died under his flag wouldn't have died for nothing. After he became Femto he truly died as the last humanity in him got extinquished leaving only lust for power and cruelty.

While I am not too mad at most people that act like Griffith, I am not too happy about it either. I mean I understand that people can decide whether or not they care about others or not so I couldn't really say it's a terrible thing. All I can say is that I think that helping others instead of being selfish could have been a better option for buddy to choose.
@o_o-vu1rs

I've always thought Griffith's character is more greyscaled than people want him to be honestly, but everyone acts so mad about it. I mean, obviously he's a villain, but band of the hawk followed him blindly so everyone kinda made him believe he was doing the right thing by following his dream. They seemed happy there, he saved them and built a home for the outcasts. Guts left the band bc around that time he wanted to be like Griffith, but Griffith didn't know that, he just saw one of his best friends dump him. Then he was BRUTALLY TORTURED for A YEAR (a lot of people seem to underestimate that fact) and he went completely mad. The sacrifice is an awful scene to see, but so was Griffith's state of mind when they rescue him. After all that, yeah, he changed completely and he's shitty af. I'd never say he did nothing wrong, but people act like he is a complete psychopath from the start and there's enough context in the story to prove that wrong. As I see it the whole Golden Age arc, the most praised in the series, warns us about the tragedy of Griffith. Feel free to correct me if you think i'm wrong.

I'm not saying Griffith is innocent, thise who do need to be behind bars in jail, they're not sane, however..... Umi know it sounds bad to say however but Is it wrong? To do something that's very hard to swallow and forgive yet is Exactly what everyone signed up when they joined the band, he stayed true to his philosophy, when he told casca he doesn't feel responsible about the deads, but he feel that he has to commit himself to it if he expects people to give their life for him. He has to win somehow. For guts is fucked up. Guts is one unlucky bastatd and that's the plot, from the day he was born he's cursed by life . None is looking out for him otherwise he wouldn't find himself in such cooked situations

i use to agree HEAVILY however my main argument is that femto and grifith are two different people basically since how can u judge a person before and after becoming an extreme psychopath. He now feels nothing for those who died and what he did to casca cuz he quiet literally has NO HUMANITY. I do not believe grifith would be capable of doing all those acts if he still had his humanity. The way grifith's views his final decision with his humanity is that they already pledged their lives for his dream they said it and meant it so to grifith what difference does it make whether they die in hell or a battlefield. He still creates the Eutopia he promised for those who died before and after the eclipse this was the only way the sacrifices of all those before could mean anything without being wasted. I hate him still dont get me wrong but when you start to view them as two diiferent people it all makes sense, the worst things he did was the moment after he became a monster with literal no humanity, and without that humanity and complexity that's not grifith.
