Let’s not defend this by trying to play semantics with skin type versus skin color. Companies do this all the time. They feign diversity for black dollars. Also I said in the video this company sent me this knowing that I was black because they were trying to get free promotion. It is well known that black women struggle to find sunscreen because they do not make it for black skin. This company is another example.

I made this exact distinction, not to defend them but to educate us. I took a communications class and advertising class in college before I changed majors. I learned that companies do not have to put truthful information on the front their packaging and they can legally leave out ingredients if they don’t meet the percentage threshold regardless of its capacity to cause adverse affects. So it’s very important to pay attention to their verbiage, their claims, and their reviews because they count on our ignorance and our dollars.

edit: sunscreen is still important even if you're dark skinned. not for skin cancer but for protecting yourself from aging. skin cancer is very rare, most deaths are a result of it not being caught soon enough and even more rare in dark skinned folks. black didn't crack in the past because our elders had a ozone layer and they used other forms of sun protection like hats and protective clothing. we don't have that no more. wear sunscreen please LOL cerave recently came out with a spf30 that's sheer, just gotta work it in real good with that brand. even white ppl complain about that cast but its because you hve to rub it in a ton. its affordable and i was so happy to see i would no longer need to spend 30+ dollars for a sheer spf. its not reef safe though, as its both mineral and chemical.

Some of us are in our 60's or more in age & had problems with skin care & make up & these companies know the difference in these many many centuries later, what they are doing ,when they lie 🤥 & it's offensive . @@britttanyrose they sent more than just you the product as PR. They more than likely have a list of influencers of various skintones. Did it clog your pores or cause a breakout? If it did then I can understand it being seen as lying, but not the white caste. There are 7 skintypes and skin color is not one of them. Most sunscreens use two well known ingredients that are the culprit causing that white cast in the skin. To avoid it they replace the ingredients. Are you saying that is what they did, removed the ingredients and told you its" brown girl friendly"? Most marketing of skincare isn't skincolor based but skintype based. And the piling is a matter of chemistry and the mixing of products. Lighterskinned Black people and other POCs of lighter complexions can probably use their products no problem unless it causes breakouts. Or it can be used under foundation so the white caste isn't apparent. Or used when one is staying home. But again when they say all skin types they are not talking about skincolor. They didnt lie or mismarket the product.
