The sunset colors are beautiful, and being alone on a very popular hike is so great. It's happened to us only a few times. Thanks for sharing.

I have just come from Big Bend .. I would argue that the beauty of this place rivals anything. It’s absolutely vast, and the way the mountains rise out of the desert is amazing. This place is deeply spiritual to me

Appreciate your channel- one of the “OG’s” of the texas backpacking KZitem content creators. Thanks for the time and effort. The west texas range and basin is a true gem. Can’t wait until Chinati mountains state park opens!

Wow, I appreciate that! I'm glad to know it's being watched! and what?! I didn't realize it was becoming a state park...thats awesome! I hope they develop some trails there...from the pics it looks beautiful! Is there an official date?

hopefully it’ll suit the more advanced backpackers. Outside of GMNP and BIBE id say the best texas state park for backpacking is BBRSP especially the rancherias loop at BBRSP. Caprock, lost maples and Davis mountains are cool but more for the beginner type

I need to check out the franklins. Looking at the map it looks like you could get in a good 2 night 3 day or even possibly longer backpack

@@TheNotLostNomad It was amazing as we lucked out with overcast conditions and a cloud cover for the LMT trail! Camped at chisos basin and did a lot of exploration!. Emory peak & South Rim are on the menu for the next BB trip! Maybe December/Juanary... what do you think?

@@TheNotLostNomad what? Switchbacks are a Godsend! Else we'd be climbing steeper mountains! As an Appalachian Trail backpacker, trust me. Haha! And I still say you should be making videos for National Geographic. Seriously, you should contact Nat Geo TV. You are that good. You are a pro.

Well thank you! Maybe one day these videos will gain some traction… some times it seems like it’s crickets…especially with Texas hiking. Meanwhile I’ll take just being able to enjoy these places and I love making the videos. It always helps knowing that they are being watched!

@TheNotLostNomad

Thank you! Glad you are enjoying them! I’ve been wearing Altra Lone Peaks for about 4 years now. They are low shoes so probably not the best if you need that support. But I can tell you that for myself…they’ve changed my world. I immediately doubled my daily mileage…now it’s no big deal to pull off 16+ miles in a day. I don’t deal with blisters anymore…and the “no drop” soles ( meaning that the heal is not higher than the toes like most shoes) has developed my calves tremendously to make me stronger on the trail. For me, the Altas work great! Thanks again for watching!

By my best guess, just about the only hike remaining for you at Big Bend is the Outer Mountain Loop. When are we going to see that video? 😀 (It’s an awesome hike!)

Nice! I really need a 4x4 vehicle… my big red does ok but I get nervous heading out on these backroads. I’ll hopefully get this loop knocked out this fall… I guess we will see!
