Season the chicken thigh with salt and pepper on both sides. Pat dry the chicken with a paper towel and coat the chicken with corn starch on both sides. Shake off any excess corn starch before pan-frying. In a pan, add oil and turn the heat to medium-high. Once the pan is hot, add in the chicken thigh skin side facing down. Pan fry for 7 minutes, skin side facing down, flip, and cook for another 5 minutes. Remove the chicken and set it aside. Mix soy sauce, minced garlic, five-spice powder, and honey in a bowl. I'm allergic to soy so will be trying this with coconut aminos!

It will be every bit as good I'm sure. The best coconut aminos taste better than cheap soy sauce any day. But if you're looking for a Ultra quality soy sauce try Pearl River which comes in plain dark and mushroom flavored period the mushroom is just a little bit more umami and earthy. I like it more on things like chicken with pea pods, sweet onion carrots water chestnuts and mushrooms. I know quite a bit about ingredients but I've never been able to get my wok food to be less than soggy. I finally found a cookbook the talks about those things not so much what to do but what not to do. And that's the most more helpful. But this one's so straightforward none of those factors come into play and that's what makes this an especially good video. Subscribing!

Yes I would like to know if I could substitute it with something else bc I don't have 5 spice seasoning either. Any advice is greatly appreciated 🙏

Five-spice powder is just a mix of star anise, cloves, cinnamon, sichuan pepper, and fennel seeds grounded up. They probably have five-spice powder at a health-foods or generic grocery store (trader joe's, walmart, etc.). Or you can just buy and add those individual spices into the soy glaze.
