Just a (non-chemical) suggestion for next time if You have one, Nature’s Good Guy’s sells various neamatodes (Itty bitty invisibugs) that attack and eat the nats in egg/baby form, once the nats are gone the neamatodes die off..Gardeners use them as pest control (+for houseplants to control fungus gnats), and it only takes a little bit to treat a pretty huge area (aka your back yard), the smallest kit?/bottle/pak they offer I think is like $30usd..but again, chemical free & all natural..*Smiles*… Also, they do the same for fleas, and flies, and other pests..so a great yearly treatment. I think they also go after all that bad stuff that is in dog poop that can remain in your soil for literally 2yrs after a dog poops there, like ring worms (that can infect humans/kids if stepped on w/bare feet), not sure if they do treat them so check w/the seller, but I think they do ..*smiles*

If you have a gnat or fruit fly issue, my favourite way to kill the buggers is a cup with a good amount of apple cider vinegar, about half the cup, then a few good drops of dish soap. Top the cup with fast running water to make it foamy. The vinegar attracts the flies, and they try to land on the bubbles, fall inside, suffocate, and sink into the liquid. It's truly disgusting how many fruit flies you'd get in these. When the bubbles are gone, just dump out a little liquid and refill with water to make more bubbles. And you can continue to do that until the apple cider vinegar smell is diluted out, or until the amount of dead bugs in the cup gets too gross for you. In my old house, I had them breeding in my potted plants, and had to top the soil with aquatic gravel which kept them from coming out of the dirt. So check your house plants, and drains.

They didn’t just come in through a hole in the screen door you shouldn’t have that many anywhere around your house unless you have something gross that they’re attracted to like moisture standing water rotten food in your kitchen P-trap I know a lot of people get them because they do not clean their garbage disposals that shit gets nasty in there or they don’t take out their trash often enough or their bottom of their garbage can has spills or they don’t rinse their recycling well enough do you know anything with sugar in it? You can make a very non toxic concoction to spray on your lawn similar to suggestions below. This is treatment handed down from family who grow tomatoes and other things that attract gnats, white flies, aphids, etc: 4 parts water 1 part white vinegar .25 - .5 part dish detergent (Dawn is great) Any spray bottle will do. Use it to spray directly onto roses, tomatoes, vegetables, grassy areas and use it to flush your drains. Those pre packaged bug killers are very effective but highly toxic to small animals. Please consider natural options. The recipe above is very effective. Also, you can create spray concoctions of essential oils like lemon, eucalyptus, rosemary, peppermint which are highly effective at repelling gnats, ants, spiders, roaches, crickets, etc

yeah, those looked like drain flies to me too. I mean it would be tough to tell from a video but to see them in those numbers in a kitchen like that that would indicate to me that it’s a drain fly issue and those are notoriously difficult to eradicate, because their larvae is resistant to most traditional pesticides meant for other bugs. Basically it won’t do shit to them and they need a very warm and humid environment to thrive in those numbers if I saw that many bugs anywhere in my house I would be thinking drain, flies and attacking every drain that includes showers, bathroom sinks, and probably most importantly the kitchen, because of the nature of what gets rinsed down the kitchen drain and if you have a garbage disposal, that P-trap will hold disgusting little morsels of whatever gets rinsed off your plates, and surprisingly a lot of people do not clean their disposal outlet ever and then it stinks and then they get drain flies and they will lay their eggs in every drain in your house and you have to get a special drain fly gel to kill them. It’s basically citronella concentrate in a gel, Dawn dish soap and water in a spray bottle will kill live ones but you have to spray directly on them.

@@tiffanyhannible8242 yeah, we had a bad go round with the drain flies a couple summers ago. What actually happened was I had this horrible smell in my kitchen and I could not for the life of me figure out where it was coming from you know I clean my disposal. I clean my dishwasher I clean everything very meticulously and I was cleaning out my kitchen cabinets and then I realized what it was my kids my daughter actually when she was cleaning the kitchen she just started shoving things in cabinets to get them off of the counter and I had potatoes and a bag of apples in the counter by the butcher block because they don’t fit inside my fruit bowls and they obviously don’t go in the refrigerator or the cabinet, but she shoved them down into the snack cabinet behind all of the snacks and they had been in there rotting, for. I don’t even know how long we were out of town a lot that summer camping and such and I found maggots and all kinds of fruit flies and so obviously I had to clean out that cabinet very well fortunately, didn’t eat through the wood or anything and then I noticed after all, was said, and done every morning when we would get up and use the bathroom or take a shower the bathroom would always be swarming with flies. Little drain flies you know they look just like a fruit fly, and I shit you not I was cleaning everything dumping bleach down the drains spraying deet all over everything and it did absolutely fucking nothing so it took me a while to figure out that it was a drain flies and that they were coming out of the drains literally in the bathroom and that was the warmest moistest area of the house so naturally, that was where they congregated, and laid their larvae so then I ordered a drain fly treatment on Amazon and that took care of them like quick fast in a hurry, but even when we had that big drain fly infestation, we never had that many as she shows in this video like that was a lot of flies to be in one room at one time in one house I would definitely be concerned that they are getting in somewhere or they are attracted to some thing to have that many just seems like an awful lot

Make sure your indoor garbage cans have a tight lid. Put any food you're tossing into a separate container with a TIGHT LID. Take the garbage out every day. Outdoor garbage cans must also have a tight lid. If you're composting the gnats love it.

Yup. I use cutter for my lawn too. Keeps the ticks away too. We were waking up with them crawling on us multiple times a week this year. (Our animals sleep with us and the cats come and go out the pet door as they please)They get worse every summer. Actually I use to flip out when there were ticks around, not anymore if I can’t find it, I just wait until it finds me, pluck them up and toss em in the toilet. Deer ticks are the ones you gotta watch out for and they’re so tiny you won’t see them coming anyway.

clean your drains and dose your yard and your houseplants with springtails. colonies are cheap and you can buy them online and maintain them in a literal deli cup. they easily outcompete gnats and you don’t spray nasty chemicals to end up in your water supply.

Using a zapper that looks like a fly swatter is a good way to keep those things under control

My friend has a bug zapper and flystrips and flea capture domes, and she got gnats. She also has a garden in her backyard and the plants in her garden are the edible plants like farming plants you would see in stores like Cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, etc. She is unsure of the anti-gnat-egg spray from lowes is dangerous for her crops in her garden.

Make sure to take out your trash daily. Especially if you're cooking meat and putting the meat wrappings in the garbage. Put out trash before going to bed. And make sure your sink drains don't have standing water in the bottom of it. That attacks them too.

I have this problem, not that bad but I bought the Zevo and started putting the stoppers in my drain (after treating with the hot water) and that seemed to work, so yes they were coming from my drain. But I will still try that backyard stuff.

If u have pets in ur home, please don’t use the chemical spray. My dog got poisoned when I sprayed it in my backyard 2 yrs ago! She licked the residue off the grass while we weren’t looking. 5 mins later, it was the scariest scene in my life - she was literally chocking and dying in front of me. We got so lucky and Barely were able to save her!

snake the drains, baking soda vinegar the shit out your sink/bathtub, change your garbage regularly, put all produce in the fridge, and try not to overwater your potted plants. attack the eggs at the source! no chemicals required. yellow fly flypaper works wonders as well

This sounds crazy but the green tea from Panera bread works. What I do is I’ll go there for a meal and get a drink. Then refill the cup before you leave with their green tea. Take the straw out & just leave the cup out with the lid on. The bugs will go in and can’t get out. It actually works so well 😂

100% gets rid of gnats:2 table spoons of apple cidar vinegar, 1 tea spoon of sugar, 4 drops of dish washing liquid. Combine in a bowl, cover with saran wrap, With the tip of u'r knife poke little holes just big enough for them to go in but not come out. Make a new batch twice a day and use as many bowls as u can. That worked amazing for me. My grandson put a banana in my home office trash can which is in my bedroom. And my bedroom was infested with gnats. I literally got rid of every single gnat in a week🎉. Use this anytime, anywhere 😊

If you have bongs, clean them regularly, I had a roommate who used bongs she had about six of them just kind of sitting around everywhere and she was a filthy filthy person, and we had a fruit fly and a drain fly infestation for months, and it wasn’t until she got evicted that they disappeared, they were breeding in her Bongwater

We do get that one stupid gnat flying around here & there, which I think they're actually fruit flies which are just as equally annoying but just an individual is the hardest to kill, it seems impossible. I'll advise that any insect that can lay eggs in stagnant water will try to do it in your sink or drains so it's best to never leave stagnant water sitting for too long during the warmer months if you can. Mosquitos attempted it once in my home inside a bucket I temporarily kept under the sink to catch a leak but I got to it in time & got the leak fixed & after that we'd never leave a dish to soak overnight or anything similar because I don't need generations of annoying flying insects in my life, the weekly visits from the big ole wolf spiders are horrifying enough. I'm glad this lady was able to take care of her problem though because I shudder at the thought of her & her family having to sleep in a place where they're inhaling bugs all night.

Caution if you have cats (or live near water)!!! They “build colonies” in litter boxes. :,) Lived on the marsh in Savannah for 2 years. I tried everything to get rid of these things. My exterminators said either they could bug bomb my house for gnats/fruit flies or I could do it. And it freaked me out but I chose to do it myself so I could protect everything I felt needed protecting and keep me and my cats out as long as I felt necessary lol. I still appreciate them giving me the option bc I stayed out 2 days longer than I needed to. But the flies were never a problem again!!! 🙏

Dealing with an infestation of gnats just like this. On our windows and every nook and cranny and light fixtures indoors and outdoors. Just got another suggestion that we are trying arber bio insecticide. Hopefully, it works. We have been trying everything that is not harmful towards us or our fur babies and the pollinators.
