As a Aussie my immediate instinctual reaction on seeing the dog and people swimming in that inlet was "sharks!". In Oz that sort of inlet is often the haunt of dangerous bull sharks. Then a nanosecond later I relaxed and was jealous of the ability to safely swim in that sort of area.

I know you said you like spice in a previous episode so I’ll leave to quantity of chilli 🌶️ up to you: 1 onion 1 large clove of garlic 1 tin of sweetcorn 1 sweet pepper 1 large potato (cubed and par boiled) 1 large handful of pea’s 1 small bunch of spring onions 1 scotch bonnet chilli 🌶️ (start with half and see how you go) 1 tin of corned beef Salt Black pepper Cook more or less the way you cook your version, give it a shot guys! I'm a van driving tradesman and my van has been broken into 5 times and i've had 2 cats cut off, each costing £1100 to replace. I have become totally paranoid where i park my van but the reality is, the people who commit these crimes really don't give a jot where a vehicle is parked, what time of day it is and even the amount of people around. Vehicle break in's used to be a night-time thing, one of my cats got cut off in the middle of the day on a residential side street with lots of people around. It's very depressing.
@LifeistooshortCK
Жыл бұрын
You hit the nail on the head. Crime has become so brazen that time of day and witnesses are irrelevant to them. I used to work burglary and vehicle crime in plain clothes in Brighton. 6 of us on a dedicated team who would just cruise around spotting them in action. We reduced those crimes to almost nothing over the course of one year but that was before more weird things became the priority. I feel for you having suffered all that. It’s a disgrace.

Yes, I guessed it - a new bed layer and it does indeed look comfy. Now, let me tell you about my experience with the Citroen 2CV (of 45 years back)... the one for which it was necessary to carry a hammer at one's side in order to tap the solenoid everytime one wished to start the engine...and a spare pair of tights for the fanbelt shredding it tended to do... and its tendency to have the control pedals detach themselves from the levers they were intended to control. I suspect any of the original chassis still on the road will have had a complete engine replacement and reworking of the pedals! Just going to the shops was an epic adventure. YAM xx

How interesting, I would've never noticed. Thank you for pointing that out. That reminds me of the first time I've ever been to the UK, about 30 years ago, and seeing steering wheel locks. To this day you don't ever see those here in Germany, so I guess our local offenders are otherwise specialized and not so much into car theft. :) - So I just checked and I understand 101.198 cars were stolen in England and Wales (about 59 mio. inhabitants) in 2021, in Germany (83 mio) it was 9.805. Huh.

Sadly Ken vehicle crime is on the increase everywhere we have just had a spate of mindless vandalism (windscreens smashed and bonnets run over) in one of the multi storey car parks and vehicles being broken into in Stevenage CCTV doesn't seem to deter them. The sad thing is it is not just height bars that causes issues for those of us that have large vehicles width and length a lot of modern parking bays are narrow and short my vehicles 16.9ft bumper to bumper and 6.5ft wide mirror to mirror luckily my mirrors fold in and it's the short wheelbase,Tut tut Ken your observation skills failed in the devil's dyke car park big white arrow pointing the other way on the ground. I prefer the small villages and countryside that you show, I have now got to the stage where I prefer to avoid the tourist attractions and school holidays.

All crime is increasing and policing is now broken. Criminals have too many rights, politicians and idiots side with the criminal element to the disadvantage of everyone. Police chiefs have to tow the line or get dismissed at the end of their pitifully short fixed term contracts. Add in politically motivated Police and Crime Commissioners and you get what we have today. We would love more space in the van but prefer the ease and freedom of parking we have with the tiny van. Ignoring the white arrow was a deliberate act of rebellion as I wanted to be able to swing into the parking space with a view rather than face the pub. Now I am retired I give myself a healthy leeway that I couldn’t whilst in the job.

Hi both, Woolroom is a good make without a doubt. When I moved to my little Bungalow I bought a new bed and decided now there is only me I'd have a single and give myself some more space. Couldn't track down another Fogarty one so I got a Woolroom one and the lightest weight. Don't think I could use a mattress topper as well as I'd feel like a Sunday roast I reckon. 🙄 You don't want to be driving one of those 2CVs they're horrible to handle. Every time you go round a bend the body feels like it is sliding across the chassis. Albeit that they don't pitch and yaw it's very disconcerting. The chassis and suspension was designed to enable french farmers to be able to drive a carload of eggs to market across a ploughfield at 90° to the furrows without any eggs breaking or dislodging from the trays. They're even wielrer to drive than a Reliant three wheeler. That Shoreham Airport building is a beautiful example of that Art Deco style you find along the South Coast and it looks like they've put a few Bob into rhe upkeep of it since the Seventies/ Eighties when we used to drive down to there and also Blackbush on a Sunday and watch all the little aircraft coming and going. Once again you have demonstrated that here in England we have beautiful scenery right on our own doorstep. Having said that, I'm really looking forward to the Norway visit. Keep well both. And Bruin out.

It would be fun to have a drive in a 2CV. The UK is spectacular and sadly overlooked by many. 1st part of the Norway series this Friday which takes us from the UK to Eemshaven to catch the ferry 👍

@@LifeistooshortCK I haven't driven one since the very late 70s but they weren't fun to drive around Gloucestershire's winding roads. 🤔🤣 even worse if you were a passenger.

flip the bread once and then add the cheese to the warm already toasted side. It's the same trick I use to make my regular pan-fried grilled cheese SUPER crunchy and yummy (plus pimento cheese/Paprikakäse or a tsp of cream cheese right in the middle, before I put the two toasted sides together. :-) Enjoying your travels!

Enjoying your channel well rounded no edges 👍🏴 I had a Citroen Diane slightly up market from a 2CV but not much . Lots of fun 602 CC engine very bouncy suspension was like 2 big bicycle pumps joining front and back wheel, I frightened many a passenger trying to over take something. I’m in the process of renovating my own van , and hopefully I will be able to use it next year . Good luck both from the Gower 👍🏴🇬🇧🍟

You can’t beat scaring your passenger every now and then, Carol has shrieked a few times over the years 😁👍. The Diane sounds fun 👍

This bought back memories, we used to wild camp on Madiera Drive back in the 70's in my dads campervan (a converted JU250 bakers van with a pop top). We never had any problems then it felt so safe I guess things change.
