T6 King was the hardest King to play, in terms of execution. I'm glad this King was waaay easier in TTT2, but still nothing compared to T7 King which is the easiest he's ever been.

do you have any insights on how king was in t6? I only have access to DR currently and i think its interesting how his strength in these games was ludicrous but difficult damage, compared to T7 where he is easy but lacking combo routes

@@blonkski_2525 Yes I do, I'm an old school player since T3. T6 movement was literally dogshit. You instantly feel how slow and sluggish movement is when you come straight from T7. T6 King was very fickle to play, especially if you wanted max damage or even higher than average damage combos. Hitting the ISW ender wasn't easy in T6 (it is easy if you didn't use long/hard combos). T6 King combos were quiet restricted in combo routes, and often were limited to only 1 or 2 combo routes (unlike T7). This T6 combo, u/f+4, f+2,2, 1, b+2,1+2, B! ISW was considered his "easy" ISW combo. But many people found it to hard to hit the ISW consistently. If you were to change the 1 for a 2, b+2,1+2, B! ISW then this changes the combo to hard/very hard or impossible for others. In T6 there was way better oki. For instance you could purposefully drop your combo or spike your opponent for resets. It was very common to go for the resets and floats in T6, looking at you Dragunov and Bob.

CH ffn2 had two different throw extensions, 1+2 which could be broken by pressing 1+2 and a more damaging jumping power bomb. I don't really remember the exact input but it was either u,d1+2 or u,d3+4. Best thing about that jumping power bomb was the fact that you could only break it by pressing 3+4 (and most people didn't know that so it was easy 60+ damage lol).

T6 King was quite the oddball between all the "modern King" versions (starting with T5). He had very good damage imho but that damage was quite hard to achieve. He also had the final iteration of his old WS+2 which was a single long range uppercut similar to his FC,df+2 but wasn't a launcher, until T6 made it a launcher on CH while at the same time making it safe on block. Oh and T6 King had one of the best item moves ever which was his wrestling trunks (in any color) giving him his Octopus Hold from T2 as a single command grab replacing his normal db+1+2 Figure 4 Leglock. The Octopus Hold was not only way cooler but also a completely unbreakable 40 damage front throw, so it was exceptionally good. I liked his TTT2 version much more even tho airthrows are all severely nerfed in TTT2 (to account for Tag Assault increasing combo damage massively as well as making running airthrows much easier to connect) and I still regard TTT2 King as his best version ever, combo wise and otherwise as well. TTT2 did much to streamline his combo options from T6 after uf+1+2 and FC,df+2, and made df+4,3,4 work consistently as a wall combo (in T7 it also works but the damage from the last hit was heavily nerfed for no reason). He lost the old WS+2, now replaced by the homing WS+2,2 horizontal chops, but gained a new high crush high launcher in d+1+2, which imho made him more flexible.

TBH, King is one of those characters that gets better and better in each Tekken game. Because there are some characters that are good in one Tekken game and then they become worse in the next game. I've always loved King since Tekken 3, but I never felt confident in playing him competitively until in Tekken 7, because Tekken 7 was when they improved his striking game. He borrowed moves from Armor King and has a proper running 3. Being too reliant on his throws made him feel like a close quarters character.

actually i'd say king was strongest in 5/DR and then again in 7. in t6 and ttt2 he was alright?(not sure about t6)/and pretty weak in ttt2 but not because of his fundamental tools, rather he did not perform well with the bound system. when they gave king the same tools ( + armor king f2,1), but with easier screw system, he was instantly a very strong character again

@@blonkski_2525 King got his WS+2,2 homing move in Tekken Tag 2 which was way better than his WS+2 in Tekken 6 that was only a 24 damage palm attack and only a counter hit launcher. His air throw and wall throw damage were his biggest nerfs in Tekken Tag 2 as to accommodate with the Tag Assault damage.

1:38 Doing double Ali kicks into the 2 mid extension after d/f+2,1 guarantees a 1+4 unblockable, if I'm not mistaken. Based on my testing, the unblockable will clip a tech-rolling opponent just as they attain the crouched state, and the unblockable beats out all other wake-up options as well, with quick-rolling back being their only means of reducing the damage.

To give everyone perspective, "average, good" damage in Tekken 6/Tag 2 with one character is about 72-77. Going above that in open field with no Rage is pretty damn good.
