geoff are these good bits, or should i get a different make eg wera or makita?, thanks
@geoffgranger718
3 жыл бұрын
@@lazycarper7925 Wera is my preferred still. The dewalt will get pulled into action if I want the stronger magnet. Never used the Makita version. The dewalt releases when you pull back while the Wera releases by pushing forward. This difference prevents the bit from being accidently released when driving a screw in to deep.
@lazycarper7925

@@geoffgranger718 thanks wera is 10 quid, the dewalt is 7 quid, would you still get the wera based on that price?
@geoffgranger718

@@lazycarper7925 Yes. This is one of the beefier items from dewalt, however dewalt can be more hit or miss to quality. Wera does use more plastic but not in a way to reduce quality. Unfortunately the plastic does feel cheap.

I've had this tool for at least 5 yrs and dug it out of mothballs, because i was building a wooden fence and got sick and tired of dropping my screws on the ground and used it for the first time yesterday and loved it.. ps the only draw back i have found is when the screw is set the tip bounces out , but not always tried the dewalt , but the magnet kept breaking and i have two of the dewalt holders featured here.

Wera ring magnet! With that, it releases the bit by pulling the collet forward so it won’t drop the bit or release it if you overdrive the fastener. The dewalt will get pushed back by the material you’re fastening and then release the bit. The wera has much better construction than the dewalt as well.

As for the lock and release it works okay but compared to my Wiha locking bit holder the manufacturer quality is night and day. Action of the Wiha is easily superior. Feels very precise and tactile

I absolutely love the idea of it being a magnetic bit holder. However, as far as using it for small framing tasks, I can't see how the head of the screw will self-counter sink when toe screwing through the end of a 2x4 like you can with a commonly used straight shank bit. It seems the shoulder on this bit holder would be prevent the countersink. I could be wrong. Anyways, nice locking feature.

What is the difference between this and the regular DeWalt magnetic screwdriving bit drive guide with the sleeve? Don't they both do the same?..... I am sold. I am going to get the DEWALT TOUGH GRIP 27-Piece Steel Hex Shank Screwdriver Bit Set at Lowe's today as it is currently on sale for only $9.98 (retail $19.98) and it actually comes with this Tough Grip rapid load tool as well as the regular magnetic screwdriving bit drive guide too.
