I think we have to also remember that they usually have another interview which talks about the game. I would be very disappointed if her interviews were the only ones because she never asks anything about the game, but because there's another one, her interviews are perfect. So she makes a great complement to the serious one basically

She is WGM Dina Belenkaya if you didn't know. She is one of the few people who are in the interviewer roster for FIDE chess. She's also quite flirty for some reason lol

It’s so interesting to see how literal and detailed Naka can be sometimes. She was trying to connect with him and the audience when she spoke about Title Tuesday and he could have used it as a segue way to be more personable, but he answered in a way that was a bit pedantic.

@@Crailik - I think you are right. But I’ve been watching his stream quite regularly for some time and I get the same impression when I hear him speak. Nothing wrong with it. I just think high level chess players as a whole are trained to think in a certain way and it reveals itself when they talk. Very literal, very systematic. But I have to say, for me he is the most accessible and personable chess player out there. I hope he wins his group and it would be great if wins the entire tourney.

Dina does a great a job! You feel that she took the time to try and make the interview interesting. I have never watched 100% of the interviews ad I'm doing at this tournament.

It's a psychological tactic to make such posture or non-verbal cue to hint authority or urgency. He said he wanted to rest because he is tired and the interview wasn't serious and may have thought it wasn't worth his time I guess

Good advice. It seems simple but it goes a long way. Ceilings and floors. You might have a high ceiling but the partying lowers your floor.

I don’t think that is a tick. She makes that to confirm that she is understanding and listening to the speaker. Maybe it is because social anxiety or stuff like that which makes her feel less awkward during a conversation.

When talking to a serious introvert, nodding up and down encouragingly and regularly can genuinely help set them at ease. And, seeing as she's interviewing chess players for a living, it's a safe bet she's an old hand at talking to serious introverts lol.

"How do knights move" wasn't an opening question in a light hearted 1 on 1 interview. It was an awkward, out of place intervention in the middle of a World Chess Championship press conference, where most people didn't even know who Andrea Botez was, let alone that very specific reference.

This isn't gonna make sense to everyone but the way Dina looks at the people she interviews makes it seem like she could steal your soul right out of you lol. Like if you told me that there was a legend in some remote village where if you locked eyes with her for more than 5 Continuous seconds she would steal your soul and that's why all the chess players have to look away for fear of being sealed away I'd be like yep. Sounds about right. Anybody else see what I mean? 😂😂😂

A second is a coach who helps you prepare for classical games by finding new engine lines and stuff. Firing your second would be to remove him of his position.
