You can also just try cleaning to connections relating to this switch.

Thank you thank you thank you - I’d looked all over - I completely ignored the left side switch - the darn pig tail was partially pulled out

Thanks for posting. I'm having the same issue with my 2003 Trailblazer 250. I'll give this a try

Update. Just checked. This was exactly the problem. A wiggle of the harness and my lights come back on. My electric start works again too which is great. I'll take some time over the winter to clean it and troubleshoot further if that doesn't work, but I wanted to take the time to thank you!

Hey I am diagnosing a 2002 trailblazer that won’t crank with the key and I have power on the red wire all the time but I think I’m supposed to have power on the red/white wire and there is none! If there was the key switch would work! Do you know where the power on that Red/white wire originates? Thanks

hmmm, my kill switch on my trail boss doesn't kill the engine, it does everything else though. The switch is new too and turns the headlights on and off and will start only when in the 'on' position, which is good of course. I'll try this test to see if that brings the kill switch back to life. Thanks!

I have seen some of these cheap "chinese" import kill switch assemblies cause problems as well - If yours is. We tried one and it made everything go haywire on one of these ATV.

@@HorsepowerHouse nope, it's a genuine made in the USA Polaris part. I actually found 2 snipped wires coming from the harness that plugs into the switch, the previous owner clipped them for some reason. I think maybe to kill the tail light without killing the engine? So now I gotta find where those 2 wires go and splice them, hopefully that allows the kill switch to turn the engine off again.

Update: I managed to find the other ends of the two cut wires, one was black and the other one was purple coming from the wiring harness that connects into the handlebar switch. It was just a simple task to splice them, I recommend using the butt splices with heat shrink on either ends. The engine turns off now with the flick of the kill switch and the reverse override button was also disabled. Hope this helps someone else out, if the wiggling of the switch, replacing it or cleaning it doesn't fix your problems then just follow the wires in the wiring harness and see if they're snipped or they have a cut or hole in the insulating jacket in one of the wires.

I noticed your original headlight switch has just on/off, and the new one has high and low, does this effect anything? The only new ones they make for my 2000 tb 250 are the same way. Any help is appreciated.
