You should have eaten the tilapia. They are yummy when fresh. I had a 1/4 hectere pond full of them when I lived in the Philippines. Free fish for my family whenever they wanted them. I was also selling them locally for 120pessos per kilo. Nice little side line.

It's actually illegal to have them in your possession here, which means you can't take them to eat. In fact the maximum penalty for doing so is $200,000.

@@philcore8568 Now that is something I didn't know. It's a shame really to waste such a good eating fish because of some silly rules. Would someone also get fined for possessing a tilapia bought from a local store. I sometimes buy them here in WA from Asian stores.

@@terryciciora8528 no it's legal to buy the imported stuff from overseas. I think if they made it legal to eat them, more people would target them and it would help with the problem. I get that they blanket "possession" so that people won't transport live fish, but to make it legal to possess dead fish it would surely help the problem.

@@philcore8568 Yes, I think that would be a more sensible way to deal with the problem. I can't see the harm in transporting dead fish. And to me it is so wrong to waste good food.
