Congrats on knocking out the IR! Love that view when one breaks out on top, until you have to dig for your sunglasses. ;) Enjoy the new rating!

Last week he couldn't say IRP now he is one. Congrats Ed, and keep learning. The best feeling you will ever experience is flying solid IMC and breakout at minimums to the rabbit under you. Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations and just so you know, these videos are still helpful and inspiring. I’m doing the Sporty’s course and training now that COVID vaccination is the norm for GA around here.

Congrats and thanks for posting the journey! I passed my instrument checked a year and a half ago and loved the journey. I did it "old school" and took my time, but that seems to be how I learn best. :-) Enjoy the new freedom!

Ed, I met you at the halo booth at Oshkosh 2019(I asked you what type of plane you fly and you said RV 10, then I proceeded to tell you that the best RV 10 that I have ever seen was the one from good plane living , at which point you had a good time of informing me that you were that guy😃) Congratulations on your IFR rating, I fly almost every week and I find myself going through cloud layers many of those times, you will definitely enjoy having this rating 👍👍👍 Victor

Congratulations! And thank you for documenting this experience. I’m thinking of doing an accelerated IFR course in the spring. Your videos answered a lot of my questions.

Did you ever go ? How did it go ? Did you have to log time already before going or were you good to go with the 3 hours of instrument time logged in ppl training ?

This is one reason, I will install Beringer tubeless wheels. I my flight club in EDLI Bielefeld in Germany the most damages on wheels are the tubes and valve stams😉 Congrats to your instrument rating. To get this for the RV-10 in Germany, you have to have at least two certified instruments for redundancy, the electric system has to be build like in the certified planes and regardles VFR or IFR the IO540 must be the same as the certified one without any changes (fuel system and magnetos). This means you double the price for the instrument panel 🤢 And must install a certified GPS navigator, two radios, vor nav and a DME. Too expensive for the little time you can fly IFR in Germany without deicing system for the wings, stabilizers and prop.... I wish I could live in the US for the ease of flying there...😀

There are times for vfr and times for ifr. I flew ifr only for years after i got the rating, but then missed the freedom of vfr. I now go based on what would be best value. Congrats on the new rating!

Congrats on the getting your IR. I got mine July 2019. I'm just north of you in St. Paul. Currently flying out of Anoka. Considering building an 10 or Sling TSI. Any chance I could fly down and check out your 10?

Surprised that over cast layer wasn't freezing.

When it gets really cold (I think it was about -15F) all the water particles in the clouds are already frozen, and the plane is frozen, so nothing sticks... and no icing. Plus, there were no icing airmets and there were pireps of negative icing in the area.

I’m confused. If you have your instrument rating why are you still training. You can’t climb through sn overcast without yet this is day 6?

I’m done! I was in a 10 day program but I finished early. They signed me off for the check ride after the 5th day, and I took my checkride on the 6th day!
