in 5:14 how is the answer 18 and not 72 sine the smallest one is also 72 so why not just cut the 18m from the 90m rope since they asked how long should the ropes be and not how much should they cut
@projectstudybuddies4592
3 жыл бұрын
Hello, question asks to cut both ropes into longest pieces of equal length possible, they want all the cut pieces of A & B to be equal length, and in their longest lenghts possible. let's say A= 72m, B = 90m If you cut B as you suggested, 90m-72m= 18m, 18m and 72m aren't equal. You're now left with 72m (A), 72m, 18m (B). but if you cut A into 4x18m = u have 4 pieces of 18m long rope, and B into 5x18m = 5 pieces of 18m long rope. So here you have equal & the longest possible ropes of both A & B. Hope this clarifies, happy studying!

Hello, do you mean question (e) & (f) at 11.19? *I am gonna put ( ) ^ 0.5 rather than the root sign ya (e), the question equals to (36/4)^0.5, and it can also be (36)^0.5 / (4)^0.5 (f) the question equals to (36)^0.5/4, the denominator "4" is not raised to half, only the numerator is raised to half, whereas in question (e), both numerator and denominator are raised to half.

Hello, highest common factor is the highest number that is a factor of all the given numbers. For e.g. if you're asked to find HCF of 8 & 24, factors of 8 are 1, 2, 4, 8 and factors of 24 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24 The common factors of 8 & 24 are 1, 2, 4 & 8, with 8 being the largest. Thus highest common factor of 8 & 24 is 8. Hope this helps with your question! Feel free to ask if you have any more questions :) We will be more than happy to help.
