I made it with a 1 by 2 piece of wood. I made the front piece twice as high because the mounting seem to stimulate the process.

I think id rather clean the floors than have to look for the "poop" expression and then basically milk a lizard.. I'm new to it all. Investigating first.. this weird lady makes me more of a cat person..

I dont get it. You take your iguana to the bathroom after every meal? How is that making your life easier?
@stpvideos92203

I would rather flush a toilet than pick it up out of the enclosure. Also if there is poop in the enclosure, there is the potential for it to be stepped in later. It saves time and is an opportunity to handle him.

How did you potty train with a litter box? I just recused an adult male free roaming iggy that was trained to go in one spot of his old owners house and I want him to use the litter box now. Any advice is helpful
@lisab.1559

I also trained mine to use a litter box. I took him to an empty litter box and poured warm water over him as this caused him to go to the bathroom. Did that a few times....while saying, go to the bathroom. Eventually I just took him to the litterbox and he learned what to do. I also cut one wall of the litter box off so he could crawl in. Once he learned this was his spot, I put down paper and he also learned to wait until i wiped him before he left the spot. If I were gone for the day, he would go and either wait or realize I was not coming and crawl out. Usually he was clean, but into the bath he went if he was dirty. But, boy was he relieved to be clean as he hated poo on him.

@@BtShawn Most lizards aren't trained. I think its truly remarkable how some pets understand things. We once had a cat when I was a child who walked into the bathroom and saw one of us little kids, at the time using the toilet, I was one of 5 siblings at that time...and that cat never used the litter box again. My Mom would find the toilet filled with poo all the time and reminded us to flush the toilet, again. She thought it was us kids, until one day we walked in and there was our cat using the toilet! From the day on, we tried to teach her how to flush the toilet as well. Too funny!

@@BtShawn My green iguana is no longer alive, he has been gone for nearly 20 years but he was a big boy and old when he died. SO miss him, he was incredibly special. He was sweet, a true puppy in a lizard body.loved hugs, beds, pillows, people, human food, loved car rides and going places. He was afraid of dogs, snakes and bugs choosing to run to me to hide in my lap when scared. He had zero meanness. Only nice all the time and so lovable. He was gentle, calm and full of love towards our entire family, even liked best babies and the older folks. He was afraid of other green iguanas too, would look into my eyes as if to say, what is this monster as he hid on my lap in fear. I know people say green iguanas are mean, many are BUT he was not that way at all. He was just a lizard who loved people, desired their attention and soaked up every second of being with us. He loved to sleep in bed with us too, following us up and crawling in under the covers throwing his arms back with his head on the pillow, then going to sleep. He had free roam of the house during the day and if I left him downstairs on the couch as he sat looking out a window, within minutes he came looking for me upstairs. He hated being alone and if he had it his way, he would prefer to just sit on our laps all day. He also understood feelings....if I was sad he would get nose to nose with me, stare into my eyes and continue to nuzzle me and lick my face, like a dog. Just an incredible boy who even those who hated lizards loved him...he was one of a kind. I haven't had another green iguana since him, as it would be hard to find another one like him. But I do still, have 15 lizards.

@@BtShawn I only ever had 1 iguana who was crazy sweet, a few others were ok, 1 other one was mean as fire...hated people, that one we did not keep. Just important to keep in mind temperament and personality is everything when it comes to choosing to get a big iguana. It can be amazing though.
