I most definitely did find the video interesting - thank you for taking the time - and risking the unwanted attentions of the raging bull - to shoot and post the video.

the dutch text the narator was struggling with says: the allies left a lot of tanks behind. From tanks which still had a functional turret and the engine of the tank was removed, they took the turret off, put it on concrete poles in the ground and build concrete walls around them. The soldiers slept in tents in the area.

They orobably got the idea from the Pantherturn or however you pronounce them. Effective in the defence if Berlin. Interesting.

I think you are right, was interesting to see that these old turrets were still there.

@@homeandtravel7235 The idea was to slow them down and grind them to a halt until reinforcements came. Same as the A10 Warthog, massive losses were expected but if they could grind them to a halt the reinforcements could push them back. The turrets provided a very small target 🎯 but those would need to be up armoured to provided a real deterrent considering T55 armaments and above. The machine gun turret I think was a little pointless when they could have put a gun with the machine gun or a 75mm version which has better HE than 76mm and most engagements were not tank on tank. What's under them would be interesting as you said, that would be a good video.

I am guessing the raging bull could have been part of the defence lines in the day.

Very true, i guess the Dutch authorities had to do something to make the population feel safer against another invasion.

The Germans did this extensively with obsolete renault FT17 turrets at the beginning of the war, to modern Panther turrets in Italy and through to the final Battle of Berlin. The results varied, but better than nothing. The Panther turrets were used as there were more turrets than hulls produced, due to Allied bombing.

Never been proofed because it's function ended in the beginning 1960s and Cold War ended 1989 / 1990.

They should be dug up and scrapped. The iron can be made into construction materials.
