I just purchased a skycamp 2.0 and it sucks having to alter the mounting brackets especially after dropping over 5k cad on a tent.

I have the overhaul hd rack. I removed the plastic track strip on mine. The brackets that came with the tent now fit just with that slight mod.

I will try that I thought the bracket 2.0 would be made to fit like a glove.

Thanks for commenting. Removing the rubber is a good option add some clearance.

Great video! I recently ordered an iKamp mini and am concerned about the 2.0 clearance under my cross bars which is only 1 1/4 inches. iKamper was able to tell me the overall height of the 2.0 is 2.75 inches. I have 1 inch thick cross bars so depending on how much is in the channel I'm going to be cutting it very close. Do you happen to now the distance of the bracket that is suspended under the channel to the bottom of the bracket?

Will the 2.0 brackets work with other tent rail systems? They look like they might.

I'd never recommend mix and matching hardware from different tent companies. Granted almost every tent I have seen uses a similar channel, bracket and slider situation, I still wouldn't do it. The tent designers and engineers tested and made everything to fit together. Using the wrong sized bolt/plate in the channel can lead to the tent getting damaged or even flying off and potentially hurting (Or even killing) someone. Sadly that's not a question I would be comfortable morally to answer over KZitem, without a lot more information. Even in store I would make sure any replacement hardware we needed to install a tent was the same grade and style as what's recommended by the individual tent maker. Tents are heavy items and fairly new to us in North America, following manufacturer's guidelines is always my official recommendation.

Is the depth that the bar can be a secret? I can't find the info anywhere and ikamper hasn't responded and it's not included in their online manual. (Mine is on order and I want to have the bars/rack mounted before it gets here). Does anyone know how deep the bar can be? What is the maximum depth of the 2.0 mounting hardware? Anyone know? Thanks!

Hello. iKamper tents come with Mounting Brackets 2.0, which are compatible with a max cross bar height of 1.2" (3cm) and a width of 3.5" (9cm). For higher cross bars, Mounting Brackets 1.0 should be used. Thanks!

Why not just take the 2.0 brackets apart and add a spacer and replace the hardware that keeps it together with longer bolts? The 1.0 hardware is bad, a 4k RTT should not be held on with a glorified pipe strap. I don't have the new 2.0 hardware on hand yet, but that's my plan as the cross rails over my truck bed aren't going to be standard Aero bars like Yakima and the rest have.

@@jasonr428 the 2.0 hardware is riveted together, so I was not sure about drilling then apart to add spacers. I temporarily used aero bars from rhino rack to use the 2.0 brackets. Long term tho when I get my custom bed rack I will also have some brackets made to fit the track on my iKamper and not use the 1.0 brackets. I know a lot of RTT's use brackets like the 1.0 version but I don't like them. Also using anti seize on the 2.0 hardware is a good idea but you must check them frequently, I had them loosen up far more than I thought they should. The 2.0 hardware is good, bit the lack of a real thread lock is not ideal either. Another reason I'm going custom

@@rossipremier Thanks for the detailed response. I'm with you on this, right now I'll have to use the 1.0 version, but in my opinion, it doesn't appear heavy duty enough for the Skycamp 2.0. Until I come up with a long-term solution I am considering doubling the metal bar at the bottom. iKamper needs to mitigate this issue. Going custom is a great idea, I'll have to find a fabricator which could be a problem. Thanks for your response.

@@jasonr428 - were you able to find a custom solution. We have the same issue and don’t like the v1.0 hardware but have no option at this time. We would also like a locking mechanism.

@@nannuchakravarti3123 I ended up going with RTT Security Mounts from Wheel Every Weekend. They were certainly a bit more than I wanted to spend, but overall they were worth it and provide an added payer of safety even the 2.0 locks don't.
