Hi Sophie, we love this sofa! We have not noticed any of these issues since purchasing it and we have 2 kids that spend a lot of time sitting and playing on this sofa (several hours a day - we use it a lot!) Also, the cushions have most definitely maintained their resilience, even with the boys jumping all over it. We couldn’t be happier with this sofa. Great buy in my opinion!

Hey Disha. Unfortunately, it is not. I actually had a vague longing for a lamp like that for a long time. It was my wife, Marie who was not really on board. Anyway, we found that lamp at Costco for about $150-$200 I believe. Maybe by Nova Lighting - but don't quote me on that. I got her to go for it because it matched the slate ceramic tiles on the wall by the wood stove. It's called an "arc lamp." Retro. Reminds me of Mad Men. IKEA has some - but they don't look quite like that one. Anyhow, I couldn't find anything exactly like it, but you could check out Homesquare: homesquare.pxf.io/c/205449/385218/5601?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.homesquare.com%2FFloor-Lamps--C990.htm Or Houzz: hpn.houzz.com/c/205449/372747/5454 Good luck!

I have not had any issue at all. What do you mean one side has gone down? In the cushion? If so, I would exchange it, it must be defective. If you mean the couch itself, perhaps something was missed in the assembly. It's a very sturdy couch.

Hi! First I want to say I love your video. Scrolling through the comment section I see lots of others did too :). I have a long and perhaps odd question, but as Ikea doesn't really have a customers service chat , this seemed like a right place to ask since most viewers probably own the sofa. So, does anybody have any experience with this sofa and the optional footstool? We are planning to move to a smaller apartment without an extra bedroom for unexpected guests. A sofa with bed option would be a great solution, but I just love the Vimle sectional (green) and it's not designed to use as a bed. I've made a design on the ikea website and it seems that a chaisse longue, with one seat, a corner section and another seat attached to it, filled up with the footstool would be able to become a nice 2 person bed. I'm just not sure if this creative solution is one that would work and it seems kind of odd to just order the sofa and hope for the best. Not sure if anyone understands what it is I'm going for, but if you do or you've tried it yourself, I'd love to hear about the result! Thank you :)

Thank you for the video. We are thinking about this couch, and I was wondering if you are having any problems with the cushions, not in terms of comfort, but in terms of the cushions staying in place. It looks like the cushions just sit there, and don't attach to the couch at all. Does that mean that they are always getting out of place? Are there times when you lean back and hit the hard back of the couch because the cushions aren't situated in the right spot? With young kids, I could picture a mess of cushions everywhere. Has that been your experience?
@andrewmurraytv
6 жыл бұрын
Great question. As you may have seen from the video, we have kids too! They are not attached, but the back is reclined slightly, and the cushions are quite taut. So getting them into the cover takes a little but of strength and is easier with two people. The cushions sit tightly together as a unit, so they can be removed, but they stay in place. We have never had one the backrest cushion fall on the floor - unless it was removed on purpose. But they don't just fall all over the place. Good question. I can see why you would think they might, but they don't. If you are close to an IKEA, take a seat in the IKEA showroom and test out all the couches.

J Bartek Yeah I'm glad I found this video too...who would have thought that instructions for the frame assembly would be in with the cover! Two observations though: a) the armrests only attaching with three screws at the bottom is pretty average, they could have used a hole+bolt set up like the one used to connect the two main sections for the armrests too b) I didn't seem to get any legs to attach to the bottom of the two seat section, so the sofa only sits on the feet on each armrest...which is quite a span. Maybe I'm still missing something...?

Enjoy your Vimle/Ratorp!

It was extremely helpful and I think I'd still be going without it :) One hiccup I noticed, I think you had troubles connecting the 2 seat section and chaise together because you used the larger washer which can slide over the end of the "screw cap bolt". If you use the smaller one then it maintains a one inch gap and easily slides into the hole :)

Yes, you can take it apart. They include a tool that you can use to screw tighten the main sections. You can use this to unscrew the pieces also. andrewmurraytv Hey Andrew , I'm trying to attach the armrest to the love seat part and the screws don't seem to align unless we take one screw out and even with that the armrest and the back of the loveseat are not lined up. Did you have any trouble with that particular part? I'm thinking it's a factory issue.

We didn't have any problem with that part. I believe we originally had them backwards. You need to look really carefully at the diagrams as they may look alike but have one small difference. So that could be it. Otherwise, take it into the IKEA exit area where they have customer support. They will be able to replace it.
