Two things Yuri has a proficiency for: shooting the wheels off of 109s, and blowing the gun crews off of triple A trucks.

Oct. 22, 1941 Been a few days since I last wrote in this book. I have spent more time riding the old 750 that sitting in my AA seat for the two last day, running from one airfield to another and back, to the local HQ and back. I wish the would fix the dam phone lines, I am sick of riding at night in -30, unable to see too far or feel what the hell I am doing even with all my warm clothes on, lest I get to see the world I guess. But I have become friendly with one of the girls on commanders staff an airfield over, the ones with the fancy Yaks, shes nice, brown hair green eyes. Took no shit off me when I arrived traipsing slush and mud into her, wonderfully warm, work station to drop off messages. Yuri looked worried in the mess this morning, I managed to get a moment with him, at long last congratulating him on his Heroe of the Soviet Union award, but I then also learned of his promotion to lieutenant. However, I could tell he was nervous, it reminded me very forcibly of myself when I had to put the Fat band of the Senior Sargent on my shoulders, I then told him what my old Sargent told me. "Just do what you deem correct if it's correct you will be a hero and you men will follow you, if not you will be dead and it does not matter." It managed to get a chuckle out of him but he still looked pale. I stayed at his table for the remaining of breakfast, turned out he was going in with Eggs equipped to deliver them to a convoy behind the fascist lines. I had to go and make sure my boys were still taking care of Tula. (They named the gun in my absence....). thankfully they had not done anything more untoward than painting her name on the barrel. But I did see Comrad Yuri clime into 34 before his flight, he had gone slightly green by this point, 34 had also had his medal depicted on the side of it along with his new Victory Marks. I will admit I was worried as he took off, I did not realise it till I lost sight of the formation. However, I need not have worried. about 40 minutes later he had returned leaping from 34 with a smile as his two wingmen trailed in behind him, least he has not had that burden on his shoulders yet, I once again admit, I breathed easy knowing he was back, he is good for morale especially in these dark days. Expecting a letter from my Sister any day now, no doubt telling me all about her time training and what she had to do, Nothing from my brother as of yet. Hope he has not fallen foul of the war, or of the Commissariat, he doses like to run his mouth at times. Senior Sargent Damitri Darval. Soviet Air Defence Forces

one of the most frustrating things in Great Battles is that the friendly AI cant kill enemy planes, but the enemy AI seems to wipe your squad a lot. Its cool that the AI doesnt cheat in GB but I think a little cheating is necessary to give the player a good experience without tanking game performance as much. The game should have a hidden stat for the amount of potential energy for planes at any given time and giving the AI the ability to recognize the energy values of planes in a certain radius of them, and comparing said values to their own potential energy. Then giving different AI "modes" based on the difference betwen their energy value and enemy planes with preset profiles. For Example if you encounter an AI with a substantial energy advantage it would prioriteze BnZ and timed agression until the difference of energy is lowered or it encounters another plane within his radius of detection with a higher energy value, when it would fall back to the other preset profile that would prioritize turnfighting and more agression, if the AI looses its energy advantage or is greatly outnumbered it would go to an evasion profile, prioritizing evasive manuvers and joining with friendlies. I've done some AI programing in college and I think it would not be so difficult to implement this system and it would not tank performance provided that the profiles are preset. This system does not have to be working on the whole map, just a large radius arround the player, the rest of the map could have the standard AI, since the player is not there anyway and it would save on performance. More layers could be added to this system so that aces can also compare their own planes stats to their oponents influencing wich one of those preset profiles it would choose to start with. I'm just geeking out here but the devs should really hire an engineer with some kind of PhD on engineering or something to give them some consulting. This problem seems to be solvable and would make the game so much better.

After watching these I ve reloaded il 2 myself and try to do the same thing but it is increadible convoluted can I suggest a guide video about il2 flying ? Like start a easier carieer like a ju-87 and go through basics like key binds your computer setup etc. I dont think doing a 2 hour tutorial and going through all of the details on one go would be fun for anyone. You can go through piecemeal throughout the career as it comes to you there is nothing like it on the yt might be fun , keep up the good work

Your marksmanship has a lot of room to improve. With 20-mm guns you should be able to destroy at least one truck on each pass (or more if they are bunched-up which happens often). To improve one's aim it is helpful to have joystick/rudder (you have the rudder, don't you ?) response curves set to at least 60%. This will make it easier to perform precise, minute steering adjustments, that are required to put rounds on target. Also you should always fly coordinated, especially when firing at ground targets, so look at that slip indicator before making your attack pass, and adjust rudder accordingly. Otherwise you may end-up firing the guns while flying sideways, which will obviously screw-up your aim (duh). Also it is important to find optimal speed of attack: if you fly too slowly you are more wobbly as a result, so your aim will suffer. On the other hand if you fly too fast you don't have much time to line-up your target(s). It is a tough balancing act, which should also take under consideration other factors such as AA fire intensity, wind, visibility etc: Good luck, I enjoy watching your videos.

Hey Wolfpack. I think you are reducing power way too much, try keeping it at 80-90%. And while in combat keep the rpm at 100%. Rpm controls the pitch of the blades and how much thrust the plane generates. Also a little tip as most people think its the opposite: Pitching controls speed, and throttle controls altitude. Hope it was a help. Keep up the great content.
