A very important piece of Knowledge for everyone struggling with the 109s in IL2 Great Battles ( IL 2 BoX).
Pitti, Trautloft and me figured out how to use it and with it you can finally use the energy fighting style again that the 109 is known for and dont have to resolve to " rolling scissor and ruddertwistfights" all the time.
The MW50 kicks in automatically in the 109s that have it ( G14, K4, G6 Late variants) at maximum manifold pressure, but will disengage once your manifold pressure drops below maximum. This means that the engine will quickly take damage if you keep your manifold pressure inbetween the comfortable setting and maximum ( for example 1.6).
With MW50 you can fly full throttle at medium altitude for about 5 minutes and in low alt for about 10. Make sure to give the engine a break when the full power is not needed.
We all thought that the MW50 is therefore basically useless because the engine would fail after not even a minute. But we just used it wrong.
Be careful if you drop from 1.8 (maximum) to cool down the engine - you have to lower it to 1.4, otherwise the engine will fail. Avoid the 1.4 - 1.7 range for anytime longer than 10 seconds.
In the Focke Wulf D9 everthing works normally and like expected with the Booster Button but in the 109 it is an automatic thing, which few people seem to know, or how to use it.
